About this listen

Raised to be my father’s weapon against the Coven that took away his sister and his birthright, I would do anything to protect my younger brother from suffering the same fate. My duty forces me to the secret town of Crystal Hollow and the prestigious Hollow’s Grove University—where the best and brightest of my kind learn to practice their magic free from human judgment.

There are no whispered words here. No condemnation for the blood that flows through my veins. The only animosity I face comes from the beautiful and infuriating Headmaster, Alaric Grayson Thorne, a man who despises me just as much as I loathe him and everything he stands for.

But that doesn’t mean secrets don’t threaten to tear the school in two. No one talks about the bloody massacre that forced it to close decades prior, only the opportunity it can afford to those fortunate enough to attend.

Because for the first time in fifty years, the Coven will open its wards to the Thirteen: thirteen promising students destined to change the world.

If the ghosts of Hollow’s Groves’ victims don’t kill them first...

The Coven is book one in the Coven of Bones series and ends on a cliffhanger. This is a gothic, dark-academia, paranormal romance and includes elements that may be triggering to some listeners.

Great story and performances but text and chapters edited out from original

Like the story and the voice acting. Am listening in conjunction with reading on ebook. One critism of this recording is that so far it has missed out an entire chapter from the book and edited another section. There is no clear reason story wise or entertainment wise to have done this so disappointed about this.

Great pace

This is an ok read. I’m not sure if the female voice actor just wasn’t selling it for me or if it’s genuinely the story, but it’s not something that I’ll pick up again although I do intend to read the next book.
Other reviews had me thinking the twist at the end was going to be jaw dropping, and while I enjoyed it I wasn’t overly surprised by it. I think I was expecting more “ghosts of the past” based on the blurb and the tension around a massacre that occurred 50 years ago, maybe the next book will add more clarity on what happened and why it’s relevant to the story. I do want to reiterate that I did enjoy the story, it had a quick pace which I didn’t mind in this instance and I’m forever compelled by a somewhat sassy and badass FMC which Willow is.

Jaw dropping

That ending. my god. I thought this was gonna be an obvious sort of plot line and I loved where it was going between the FMC and the MMC. But the last chapter or 2, my goodness! I was so shocked 🤯 so quickly did I run to read book 2 😂

Wow... I did not expect THAT

Go in blind and bear with it till the end. That's all I'll say. My only regret is that the narrators (especially Emilia) did not do it justice, it's so obvious it was her first time reading it.
