About this listen

For humans and vampires, the rules of survival are the same: never trust, never yield, and always–always–guard your heart.

The adopted human daughter of the Nightborn vampire king, Oraya carved her place in a world designed to kill her. Her only chance to become something more than prey is entering the Kejari: a legendary tournament held by the goddess of death herself.

But winning won’t be easy amongst the most vicious warriors from all three vampire houses. To survive, Oraya is forced to make an alliance with a mysterious rival.

Everything about Raihn is dangerous. He is a ruthless vampire, an efficient killer, an enemy to her father’s crown…and her greatest competition. Yet, what terrifies Oraya most of all is that she finds herself oddly drawn to him.

But there’s no room for compassion in the Kejari. War for the House of Night brews, shattering everything that Oraya thought she knew about her home.

In a kingdom where nothing is more deadly than love, Raihn may understand her more than anyone, but their blossoming attraction could be her downfall.

The Serpent and the Wings of Night is the first book in the Crowns of Nyaxia series, a heart-wrenching romance full of dark magic and bloodthirsty intrigue.

It took me a little while to get into this but I came to root for the strong female main character and found the romance incredibly believable. The end was a twist I didn’t see coming. Really well constructed once you get a couple of hours in, with three dimensional characters and empathetic narration that makes you feel every emotion.

Gorgeous fantasy

Great performance by the narrator. Really brought Oraya's character to life. if you're into action and Romantasy, you'll likely enjoy this.

Enjoyable Vampire Romantasy

Good story. Great characters.
I would have loved a little more explaining about the different Vampire factions, their clans and the reason for the innate hatred between them, but otherwise this was great.
The story is definitely worth a read.

Wow. That was... a ride.

I liked this but really wanted to love it. In parts it was great but overall it just never got where I wanted it to go. Debating reading 2nd book!!!

The over all concept of the story is good! It did have me hooked to see what would happen next. The way it is write however is not great. It feels like a school writing assignment, phrasing is repeated a lot, It is cringe and doesn't feel the most realistic at times. I enjoyed it and would recommend it but I wouldn't read it again.

great story, average writing.

Ashamedly, it took me till nearly the end of the story to realise why this is called "the serpent and the wings of night"! As a fantasy romance girlie, I enjoyed the slow burn of this book. I respect the female lead characters development - she's nuanced enough that I'm shouting at her by the end of book 1 questioning her thoughts.

I definitely recommend this one, I'll be diving into book 2 soon.

Call me a candle, coz Iove a slow burn

Loved it looking forward to book two. I liked all the characters and thought they were all well thought out.

Twist

I thought I'd found something that gives you a different idea for a story and the way it was reading the first three quarters, the story gave me the ember of hope.
But even though the dance of the edge ending was excellent and exciting it was pernickety and the predictable ending was monotony based so it could rumble into another book.

Interesting
