About this listen
Note: Please be aware that while there are no scenes of rape, there are scenes of attempted or perceived rape. Trigger warning for scenes of torture and physical abuse.
It's been months since the zombie outbreak took over America, and Alex Duncan is slipping.
She's the leader her father always prepared her to become, but now life is about more than survival...she's the only one who can lead her family into a new future, and the pressure is on to make a new beginning.
Alex is barely keeping her head above water when she's taken by a local gang. The worst of society has come together to create a horrifying place of carnage during the apocalypse, and Alex has been dragged right in the middle of it.
The Duncan family must unite to save Alex. They won't stop until Alex is rescued...or until all of them are dead.
Afterward, the Duncan family will never be the same.
Author Courtney Konstantin creates a dark and thrilling post-apocalyptic novel in Torment. This sci-fi zombie thriller is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat as the bonds of family and the sickness of the human condition is explored.

This series is a close second and I have listened to many series in this genre. As well as excellent character development and an exciting, fast paged narrative, the author actually goes into the origin of the virus and we learn how it was released and there is a doctor/scientist involved from the start who is continuously researching the evolution of the virus. Many books in this genre are missing the whole virus origin and scientific aspect. Maybe it is because authors don’t know how to approach it but I like w complete narrative with a beginning and a reason for what has happened.
I only have one small criticism which is common in this genre and that relates to the violence. I think the torture scenes are way too extreme and I would have been happier if they hadn’t been quite so depraved. It’s hard to listen to in parts.
Excellent
