About this listen
Maxx King is a former Army Ranger turned cybercrime investigator trying to get his life back on track when he has an unexpected confrontation with a ruthless Chinese spy. Struggling to understand the escalating violence, he discovers a clandestine US-China conflict centered around a device of unknown origins with the power to trigger massive natural disasters.
Caught between competing US government agencies, Chinese assassins, secret informants, and a rising number of deaths, Maxx must get to the truth before the next catastrophe strikes. Things get personal when it turns out his girlfriend, Gabby, has been working on the covert project and may be the source of damaging leaks that threaten national security.
The clock is ticking, and a break in the code reveals that something big will happen on September 11th, 2001. Thunderbird Rising is an action-packed alternate-history thriller full of uncertain loyalties, deceit, and international espionage set in Seattle and New York City.

Rising
Loved the narration by Scott Fleming, who brings the action, pace and drama to your ears.
Maxx is a ex-Ranger and cybersecurity operative, who finds himself caught in a clandestine war between the U.S. and China. Both countries are in a race to control a device, that can cause natural disasters.
We have none stop action, so many twists and turns.

A Great Listen!
I’m new to this whole audiobook thing—usually I’m just flipping pages—but I figured I’d give Thunderbird Rising a shot since I really got into the book. Man, I’m glad I did. This thing’s a beast, and listening to it narrated? It’s like the story got a turbo boost.
I’m no audiobook pro, but this one’s a banger. If you’re into thrillers that don’t mess around, characters you’d have over for a beer and barbecue, and a narrator who makes it feel like a damn movie, Thunderbird Rising is where it’s at. Loved the book, loved the listen..

So Good!
This was a brilliant audiobook from start to finish! A little longer than the ones I usually listen to, but probably for the best! Felt like I got a lot of value out of this one. Would recommend!

Action packed cyber crime
This is an excellent cyber crime novel involving with Chinese spies, governemnts and the military. John H. Thomas introduces us to Maxx King, a complex and compelling protagonist with a mysterious past and a strong sense of justice. The pacing is fast enough to keep the adrenaline flowing and make the story interesting, with characters that are intereing and full of character.
The audiobook performance deserves major props. The narrator captures Maxx’s grit and the tension of each scene with skill, bringing the story to life - highly recommend for anyone who loves a smart, action-packed thriller with heart.

Intense and Gripping
Thunderbird Rising is a fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat thriller from page one. Maxx King is a tough, authentic hero thrust into a conspiracy of secrets, deceptions, and lethal technology with worldwide implications. The alternate history premise is fearless and takes on a haunting element, particularly as the action gets closer to a recreated 9/11. The action never stops, and the combination of espionage, cyber warfare, and Gabby-driven emotional tension keeps the story focused and intense. If your taste in thrillers runs towards intelligent, acutely written, and just a little unnerving, this one’s worth reading cover to cover.
