About this listen
The Hundred Worlds have withstood invasion by the relentless Hok for decades. The human worlds are strong, but the Hok have the resources of a thousand planets behind them, and their fleets attack in endless waves.
The long war has transformed the Hundred Worlds into heavily fortified star systems. Their economies are geared for military output, and they raise specialized soldiers to save our species. Assault Captain Derek Straker is one such man among many. Genetically sculpted to drive a mech-suit as if he wears a second skin, he must find a path to victory. It's a battle in which he'll never admit defeat, but not even Straker knows the dark truth behind this titanic struggle. With Lieutenant Carla Engels piloting, Starship Liberator explores enemy territory in search of answers.

The performance and voices of the characters really made this booked stand out from other Sci-Fi booked in my library.

a great beginning

Seems a bit routine, gradually building up space ships, one then two then three, you can see the way it is going, but not really feeling involved.
The opposition 1000 world's don't seem evil enough and am unsure if the 100 world's are also now bad too?
At this level similar to AI gene and the Lost starship series, but found both keeping my interest going, as an ongoing adventure.
Ok but missing something to keep up interest

the story starts off well with an exciting depiction of futuristic ground warfare, followed rapidly by a revelation that at best was predictable, at worst down right obvious.
The main characters then go on to switch sides every few chapters, gaining allies with little to no Persuasion, allies become enemies, only to become allies again being entrusted with key tasks 5 minutes after exchanging fire with the hero's.
mark boyett, (a narrator I've enjoyed in the past) struggled on, creating some good character voices (Saxby for one) but when the characters are saying things that make no sense, there not much to be done.
The key to a great science fiction story (IMO) is believability, and I just couldn't believe it.
it is my understanding that B.V.Larson is a known name in the Sci-Fi genre, but if this is a fare representation of his work, then I won't be sampling much more of it.
it goes without saying, I will not be purchasing the sequal
starts well, but goes down hill
