Pretty much a paint by numbers start to another B. V. Larson series. Will still try the second book, but more on the authors merit than this book's.

battlecruiser is the right tagline in one word. It is a heroic epos happenimng in space and of course with a happy end

The main heros of the epic story don't die medical works wonders, humanity has found solution to longer life. The reader is on the good guys side and they eventually win. Entertainment for the Scifi enthusiast.

Great page turner, enjoyable book.
I have read 2 of the first 3 books, on the 3rd now, great space opera. The narrator I thought suited the main character well.

it's okay, although the narrator is clear, there isn't much passion. I'm so fed up with the main character being so inept. I won't be continuing

The narrator was superb and I loved Sparhawk‘s ridiculous pompous English persona (Think Errol Flynn - although Australian - in space). Thoroughly good fun, a great trilogy and a rare treat.

Bit samy, samy, as Star Force. I read all these. and loved them. but this was too similar. Mr Larson you need to come up with new ideas.

The story moves along at a fair pace but it’s all very superficial and the main characters are almost caricatures - no depth to any of them. Our hero is the scion of a powerful political family but his naivety is shocking to the point of absurdity, doubly so considering his background.

The premise of the story isn’t bad in itself but so much more could have been made of it. Huge events are just glossed over and catastrophic mistakes are shrugged off with a “oh it was all a misunderstanding so that’s all right” sentiment.

The dialog is weird too - It’s all very “blast you, you dishonourable fiend” kind of stuff.

Overall it felt fairly juvenile.

Ok, but simplistic. Probably good for kids.
