About this listen
This isn't a game. This is his new life.
An epic LitRPG adventure about a family trapped in a game-world called Eloria with no way out.
Dave has been wandering through life for a long time. His day job bores him, and he never seems to be able to meet his family's expectations. The only escape he's ever had is his love of MMORPGs.
But when he becomes the subject of a test without even knowing it, he's transported into a game-world called Eloria with no escape. It's a frequent daydream of his; however, in none of those dreams did his wife and daughter ever accompany him.
Now, Dave must balance protecting his family with exploring his dream...oh, and trying to stay alive. Monstrous beasts roam Eloria; worst of all, an undead army led by the vile Death Knight.
He'll have to adapt fast and learn to cooperate if he hopes to make a new home for his family. And just maybe, along the way, he'll find out why they're living a life in exile.
Experience the first three books in a LitRPG saga perfect for fans of C.M Carney, Blaise Corvin, and Charles Dean.
Narrated by Peter Berkrot (Alpha World, Earth Force). More than 50 hours.

Great story but…

the narrators voice, very often sounds like he has a lot of saliva in his mouth, and should have swallowed. a couple of sentences ago.
I know this sounds rude, it is not intended as such, but my brain won't stop focusing on it.
the writing, also has contains aspects I normally dislike.
sentences that over explain certain aspects of a story.
it rehashes already know information like you would forget it, from the previous sentence, not precious book.
Dave was angry, in his anger he struck out at the monster, his anger didn't cool, and he kept striking in anger, as his anger flowed through him.....
I get it, he is angry, stop stalling the story, with information you already given.
this is so annoying.
then the good:
The characters are rich. well written. (likable or not) story is decent. the pace can feel slow because you have so many points of view. the first book is not so bad, but this gets worse as the story progresses, so you have to maintain interest between view points, which can be tricky when you are caught up in what
happens with other characters.
this is however good, because it means the story has dragged you in to care.
story and narrator each take a point off, but the sum is greater than that of its parts.
Solid story.

Good but very very slow.

The moon elves are basically japan, the only difference is no stayed preference for sushi. At least so far. The system acts only as a crutch; you cannot gain skills other than levelling and you get free points to buy nearly any skill you want and you can only increase skill levels through that, not experience or training or use.
My breaking point was when the healer is suddenly faced with the possibility of battle and just puts 10 points into a weapon skill in response. Effectively you can go from "never held a sword before" to master in 0 seconds flat...
The story is ok but hasn't managed to hold me at all nearly two books in and there are also a few mistakes in narration that have not been edited out. Not a huge issue, but it just adds to a feeling that this not a polished piece.
Lazy writing
