The author uses the word Grimley to much and its very jarring in an audio book as i found myself repeating the word with a small lonely cheer all the time when in fact something Grim is happening.

It's very good. The author has constructed great plot that leaves reader with a desire for more. I did enjoy this series from book one and I think I will fore many (I hope) books to come. Fine constructed not only main plot but also the social and political background. There is one downside - old problem I guess... It's cognitive distortion : presenting us as diverse and independent individuals (we are different within the grup) and them (aliens) as acting like they were all the same. Although it's justified with the new aliens (since they are "enigma" to us), I hope it will be evolving into more "mature" (as they are not alike) aliens. As many will point out that this is problem of 99% of the space operas I will say only this that I hope it will be more of that 1% rather than this 99% and I am sure it's well within this author capabilities. And as a big plus he is trying to do so! I hope we will see mixed alien/human crew as that will help with this matter - just the thoughts... ;)
