تروي الكافرة قصة فاطمة التي تعيش في مدينة نائية سيطر عليها المتشددون الإسلاميون وأجبروها وعائلتها على خدمتهم. قُتل والدها في عملية انتحارية، بعدها تزوجت من شاب عاطل عن العمل يبحث عن مجده الضائع في عملية انتحارية لينعم بوعد الحوريات، ويلبس ثوب البطل بعدما كان الفشل حليفه في الحياة. بعد موته قرر الإسلاميون تزويجها إلى عنصر من جماعتهم المسلحة لكن هذه المرة لم تمتثل لأوامرهم وقررت اللجوء إلى أوروبا. اتفقت مع أحد المهربين الذي ساعدها في الوصول إلى بروكسل ولكنه.
