• HS Boys Basketball - Mansfield Senior at Madison - December 13, 2024

    Mansfield Senior improved to 3-0 with a 85-69 win at cross-town rival Madison on Friday night. Senior High had 4 players score in double figures, led by freshman Kaylen Brooks with 26 points, which included 5 made three point field goals. D'Vontae Johnson poured in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. He also connected on 3/4 from 3-point range and 6/8 at the free throw line. Rashad Reed chipped in 14 points, while Kyvie Roane added 11. Madison was led by Colton Adkins with 19 points and Kaleb Gordon with 16. Senior High outrebounded Madison 39-27. The TYgers improve to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the OCC. The loss for Madison, their 4th in a row, drops them to 1-4 and 0-2 in the league. *The game was broadcast on WMAN*

  • HS Boys Basketball 24-24 - Clear Fork at Ontario - Dec 12th, 2024

    The Ontario Warriors (1-1) won their home opener on Thursday, 50-39, over Clear Fork (2-3). Ontario got out to a 10-1 lead in the 1st quarter and had the lead for most of the evening. The Warriors were led in scoring by Cardae Brown, 20 points, and Trindon Flenoury with 16 points. Brown and Flenoury are both freshman and have scored in double figures in both games this season for the Warriors. Ontario is now 1-0 in the MOAC, while the Colts suffered their 1st league loss and are now 2-1 in the conference. *The game was broadcast live on WMAN*

  • HS Boys Basketball 24-25 - Lucas at Mansfield St. Peter's - Dec 6th, 2024

    The Lucas Cubs beat the Mansfield St. Peter's Spartans, 44-35, in overtime on Friday, December 6th at the Franciscan Center. St. Peter's led by 2 points after the 1st quarter, but Lucas rallied to take a 9 point lead at halftime, 20-11. The Cubs opened up a double digit lead in the 2nd half, but St. Peter's came from behind to take the lead, 34-33 with :04 seconds to play on a lay up by Desmond King. However, Bobby Grover of Lucas was fouled with 1 second on the clock in the 4th and sank a free throw to send the game to OT. Lucas outscored St. Peter's in overtime, 10-1, to post the win on opening night. Hayden Maloney led the way for Lucas with 17 points, while Cooper Day chipped in 10 points. St Peter's was led by Markeis Johnson with 11 points and Antonio Lindsay added 10 points. The game was broadcast "live" on WMAN with Aaron Hines

  • HS Boys Basketball - Nov 29th, 2024 - Clear Fork at Lexington

    The Lexington Minutemen defeated the Clear Fork Colts in the season opener on Friday, November 29th, by a final score of 65-51. Lex led by as many as 18 points, but the Colts rallied several times, cutting the lead down to 7 in the 2nd half. The Minutemen responded to post the 14 point win at home. Lexington's leading scorer was Seven Allen with 24 points (13 of those came in the 1st quarter). Two other Minutemen were in double figures, as Joe Caudill had 15 points, and Jacob Legron chipped in 10. Clear Fork was led by Garrett Hotz with 33 points and 12 rebounds.   • HS FB - Ontario vs Perkins Regional Final, Nov 22nd, 2024

    The Ontario Warriors historic season came to an end on Friday in Tiffin, as the Warriors fell to Sandusky Perkins, 28-21, at Frost-Kalnow Stadium. Perkins scored the go-ahead TD with just :39 seconds left in the game to advance to play Glenville in the state semi-finals next week. Ontario fell behind 14-0, after a fumble and a short punt, which the Pirates short TD runs of 5 and 10 yards from senior running back, Isaac Bunts, who had all 4 TD's for Perkins. Ontario would not go away, and answered with a TD run by Bodpegn Miller late in the 1st Q to cut the lead to 14-7. The 2nd quarter was scoreless, and 14-7 was the halftime score on a cold, windy and rainy night. Perkins scored early in the 3rd quarter to take a 21-7 lead, but again - the Warriors would answer big time! Ontario got a 1 yard TD run from Miller 4 seconds into the 4th Q, but the PAT was blocked. Ontario then recovered an onside kick by freshman Kooper Kilgore, and remember that name, as Kilgore had a huge 2nd half running the football for the Warriors, as he leaped a defender, and darted into the end zone from 18 yards out to pull Ontario with 2 points. Bodpegn pushed his way into the end zone for the 2 point conversion to tie the game at 21-21 with 8:45 to play. However, Perkins got the ball back and scored the game winning TD with :39 seconds left on a 8 yard run by Bunts, who finished with 200 yards rushing and all 4 Perkins TD's. Ontario ends the great season in school history at 12-2. Bodpegn Miller (3,577) is now the schools all-time career rushing leader, as he passed Jordan Campbell's mark of 3,556. Kilgore led Ontario in rushing with 73 yards, Miller added 2 TD's and 46 yards rushing. Mason Vantilburg added 51 yards on the ground. *Game aired live on WMAN with Aaron Hines and Erik Will

  • HS FB 24 - Week 13 - Ontario vs Shelby (Nov 15th)

    The Ontario Warriors are headed to play for a Regional Championship for the 1st time in school history, after they beat Shelby, 49-48, in one of the most epic playoff games ever played in Richland County. Ontario trailed by 22 points after 3 quarters of play, and went on to outscore Shelby 23-0 in the 4th quarter to win the Regional Semi-Final at Arlin Field. The crowd was estimated by RichlandSource.com to be over 8,000 people. Bodpegn Miller scored 5 TD's, including the game winner with :12 seconds to play in the game, and totaled 503 yards on the night. Miller rushed for 209 yards, and 2 TD's, while throwing for 294 and 3 more scores. Warriors running back Mason Vantilburg went over 1,000 yards on the year, as he rushed for 130 yards and a TD. Landon Sowards, who is just a tackling machine at linebacker for Ontario, had the games biggest play with 1:52 to play in the 4th, and the Warriors down 48-40, when he tackled Brayden Devito of Shelby in the end zone for safety. Ontario got the ball back, then drove down for the game winning score, which included freshman kicker, Kooper Kilgore, connecting on the game winning extra point. Shelby QB Brayden Devito was incredible once again, as he scored 6 TD's and 439 yards of offense. DeVito ends an amazing year with 61 TD's and over 5,000 total yards. Ontario (12-1) now plays Sandusky Perkins (12-1) in the Regional Final on Friday, November 22nd.

  • WMAN HS FB Week 12 2024 - Shelby vs Ottawa-Glandorf (Playoffs - Nov 8th, 2024)

    The Shelby Whippets improved to 12-0 on Friday, after beating Ottawa-Glandorf, 26-14, in the Division IV Regional Quarterfinal at the Whippet Athletic Complex. Shelby fell behind early and trailed 7-6 at halftime. The Whippets outscored the Titans 20-7 in the 2nd half, as Shelby QB Brayden DeVito had a hand in all 3 of the Whippets TD's, which were all big plays. DeVito threw two TD passes, a 66 yard play to Avery Lambert, and a 69 yard strike to Brady Bowman. Brayden sealed the deal, after a huge interception by Brock Fisher as OG was driving into Shelby territory at the 17 yard line, as DeVito darted 76 yards to the end zone to push the Whippets into the regional semi-final on Friday. DeVito had just shy of 400 total yards, and now for the season has accounted for 55 TD's and over 4,700 total yards.
