  • Rob Baumgartner: Climbing, Challenge, and the Power of People
    Dec 31 2024

    Send us a text

#14: This week Liz and Bryce The Third are joined by Rob Baumgartner (he/him), a long-time team member, volunteer, and staff member with The Phoenix. Rob first joined The Phoenix in 2007, when the newly-formed organization had about 160 members. Today, he serves as the Regional Manager for the Mountains & Plains states.

For Rob, his climbing journey and recovery journey are deeply intertwined. In both, people play an essential role — whether it's challenging ourselves to take on what feels unachievable, cultivating trust with ourselves and our partners, or empowering others to choose the right path for them. Rob shares how these two paths are intrinsically linked, emphasizing the power of choice, community, and the importance of supporting others. Tune into the episode to learn more about Rob, as we discuss his recovery journey and more.

  • Navigating the Holidays with Self-Compassion: A Conversation with Liz and Bryce The Third
    Dec 24 2024

    Send us a text

#13: This week, Liz and Bryce The Third reflect on the evolution of their relationships with the holidays and check in on how they're both feeling this season.

For Liz, this holiday season feels different from years past—stirring up both joy and grief, and reminding her that recovery is an ongoing, non-linear journey. While intense feelings and memories have surfaced, she’s learning to hold both the joy and the grief, allowing herself to experience them safely and work through them.

Bryce shares how his relationship with holidays has shifted through his own recovery, and how he's reached a place where he shows up for celebrations how he wants to. Through cultivating a relationship with himself, he's learned how to navigate these big holidays, which in turn strengthened his relationships with his friends and family.

Tune in to hear the conversation between Bryce The Third and Liz. And a reminder from your hosts this holiday season: your feelings are valid, we relate to you, and we are so glad you're here.

  • Flexing Your Sobriety with Soberflex Founder Kevin Beaufrand
    Dec 17 2024

    Send us a text

#12: This week, Liz is joined by Kevin Beaufrand (he/him), found of Soberflex and a person in recovery. Kevin shares his story of active addiction and his journey to find sobriety and recovery. From the age of thirteen to thirty-one years old, active addiction took hold of Kevin's life. In May 2019, Kevin decided enough was enough. He made the pivotal decision to change his life and chose to become 'obsessed' with wellness and health. After walking down this path to recovery, Kevin has made it his North Star help other folks do the same.

Check out the conversation to learn more about Kevin as we discuss his story and more, including:

    • Confronting the 'saboteur' voice in his mind that tempted him to stray from his sobriety — and how he learned to control and live with it.
    • How he found his North Star and the drive to live a holistic healthy lifestyle that sustains his sobriety.
    • Why after a year into sobriety he was tempted to try drinking in moderation, and how his community supported him to stay sober.
    • The mission behind Soberflex, and the special meaning behind the organization's name.

Join the Soberflex community at https://www.skool.com/soberflexfree/about and check out their YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@soberflexofficial.
