  • EP 66 - The History of Dueling
    Apr 27 2025
Felipe and Butch challenge each to a duel, to explain the history of duels. Duels evolved from medieval European traditions where knights and nobles would settle disputes through physical confrontations. There's no laws on it, lives were either changed or lost. It was appropriately called "trial by combat" where legal disputes were settled by fighting. While initially seen as a way to avoid violence, dueling eventually became a popular means of resolving personal slights, particularly among the upper class.

Inventions were stolen, flavors and brands were created, and new regimes were unveiled especially by the likes of Marjorie Merriweather Post who took over her father's business and made it to her very own. This is an episode you're gonna wanna have cereal with.

  • EP 64 - The History of The San Patricio Brigade
    Apr 13 2025
Felipe and Butch keep going back in time to find out the atrocities young America were committing in the 1800s. In this episode, they talk about the history of the Saint Patrick's Brigade formed by John Riley. The brigade was a Mexican Army unit which fought against the United States in the Mexican American War. Consisting of several hundred mostly Irish and other Catholic European expatriates and immigrants, including numerous men who had deserted or defected from the United States Army. This affected how the US took over parts of Mexico which later ended up being California. This is an episode that would require even multiple episodes because of its vast timeline in history but here, Felipe and Butch explain it as much as they can.
