About this listen

'Enthralling from beginning to shocking end' Hannah Whitten, bestselling author of For the Wolf

**THE INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES AND USA TODAY BESTSELLER**

In the luscious, dark conclusion to the series that began with One Dark Window, Elspeth must face the consequences of what she's wrought - perfect for readers of Hannah Whitten's For the Wolf and A Court of Thorns and Roses.

Elspeth and Ravyn have gathered most of the twelve Providence Cards, but the last, and most important one remains to be found: The Twin Alders.

If they are going to find it before the Solstice and cure the kingdom of the dark magic infecting it, they will need to journey beyond the dangerous mist-cloaked forest that surrounds their kingdom.

And the only one who can lead them there is the monster that shares Elspeth's head. The Nightmare. And he's not eager to share any longer.

Two Twisted Crowns was a New York Times and USA Today bestseller on week of publication in the US.

TWO TWISTED CROWNS is a hauntingly beautiful sequel and final addition to THE SHEPHERD KING dualogy. Very, very satisfying. I absolutely loved it and cannot wait for Rachel Gillig’s next book.

Hauntingly Beautiful

Really enjoyed both books. Something different, amazing storytelling, very cool main character. I loved that I didn’t know what was coming, I find many books predictable. Really amazing listen, honestly recommend

Unique and amazing

Absolutely throughly enjoyed this second book which tied everything up & a lovely ending. I look forward to more by this author in the future

Fantastic conclusion to a brilliant story

Perhaps read my review of book one. I am absolutely in shock and stupidly book drunk after finishing book 2.
The second book is seamless from book 1 and the narrator leads us perfectly through the twists and turns. There are no loose endings, no ambiguity-this is a satisfying story where the reader is holding their breath and gasping at the action.
It’s a tale of mystery, court intrigue (I don’t actually like historical fiction - this is not THAT) machinations of powerful and ruthless versus hope. No one is perfect, but as their individual stories unfold, they’re relatable and interesting. They’re a multi-faceted cast of characters who endear themselves to the reader and each other. I have never read anything quite like this and will clasp these books to my heart for a long time.

Addictive and Thoroughly Satisfying

it was really good! I loved the duration of the story! only two books so you don't get the chance to get bored! maybe I'd like a bit more depth to the characters but it's a small detail!

nice characters, perfect duration of books

A very well written story - well told by the narrator, full of drama and intrigue.

Fantastic story and performance!

It really is better than the first one. It's so clever and the rhyming is truly excellent. A lot of thought has gone into this duology to make it as enjoyable as it is. The cards, the characters and ultimately how it ends are incredibly well thought out. My only gripe is that given there are male POV's, the audiobook could have done with dual narration.

Absolutely Brilliant

Gillig doesn't just have lots of cards up her sleeve this time around in a satisfying sequel to One Dark Window, the cards seem to have cards up their sleeves too! Following a dramatic switcheroo between the unfortunate Elspeth and her Nightmare we follow her story but in a somewhat removed way delving more into the Shepherd King's past. We also follow more closely Ravyn and Elm, the latter of whom becomes a much more central character as he tries to work out how to step up and resolve his feelings for the now icy Ionie. Lots of magic, mystery and even some romance but I could help but notice this was all about the boys and their sad and traumatic upbringings, whereas the strong female leads from the first novel were frozen out by the darker impulses of men in their lives. Good conclusion.

Lots of cards up it's sleeves in this magical nightmare fantasy

Great book! I read it in a day! So I think the 1st book was better as it hooked me in, but the 2nd told the whole story and finished it up in a nice little package.
I think it would make a great film! I loved Elspeth & Ravyn's relationship & of course Elm & Ione, so they helped the story along, but the gothic feel of the story that offered a bit of horror and fear really made the story.
I loved it and would recommend it to all.

Brilliant

Enchanting and exquisite. I cried when it was over. The writing is so poetic, the narration utterly luscious.
Easily five stars.
