I live with chronic illness, a bit of my ability disappears each year and I long ago made peace with my mortality. Life does change, you look at things differently, you see things you didn't and you cherish things more.
Six months ago my husband died suddenly, we are in our 40s. I've spent those months in turmoil, i expect to die whenever I leave the house, the friendship group I had nurtured for years has disbanded, because it suddenly became me who needed the help not them and I've felt a panic that my peace will never come back, an obligation to go back into the rat race and look at the world more harshly.
But I have listened to this in less than 24 hours and I can feel my peace and equilibrium returning.
Mories wise words have sunk in, his outlook has been instilled in me.
It was an honour to share those thoughts and to take away so much from them.
I don't normally reread books, but I'm sure this is one I will return to.
