About this listen
Maybe it was a grandparent or a teacher or a colleague. Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching and gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it. For Mitch Albom, that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly 20 years ago. Maybe, like Mitch, you lost track of this mentor as you made your way, and the insights faded. Wouldn't you like to see that person again, ask the bigger questions that still haunt you?
Mitch Albom had that second chance. He rediscovered Morrie in the last months of the older man's life. Knowing he was dying of ALS, or motor neurone disease, Morrie visited Mitch in his study every Tuesday, just as they used to back in college. Their rekindled relationship turned into one final "class": lessons in how to live. This is a chronicle of their time together, through which Mitch shares Morrie's lasting gift with the world. ©1997 Mitch Albom (P)2004 Time Warner AudioBooksSix months ago my husband died suddenly, we are in our 40s. I've spent those months in turmoil, i expect to die whenever I leave the house, the friendship group I had nurtured for years has disbanded, because it suddenly became me who needed the help not them and I've felt a panic that my peace will never come back, an obligation to go back into the rat race and look at the world more harshly.
But I have listened to this in less than 24 hours and I can feel my peace and equilibrium returning.
Mories wise words have sunk in, his outlook has been instilled in me.
It was an honour to share those thoughts and to take away so much from them.
I don't normally reread books, but I'm sure this is one I will return to.
Brilliant, soul touching and warmth giving

Morrie’s upbeat and positive attitude are so admiring! This book leaves you feeling like you have a friend, someone to share a connection and engage with even when things around you might be awful (it’s 2021 after all).
Certainly not a choice I would have sought out but I’m so glad for the recommendation to listen. I’m sure each listen can take a huge amount from the book, not least a lasting connection to a person I never got to meet RIP Morrie.
Amazingly uplifting and eye opening for 2021
