About this listen
Living in Victorian London is difficult at the best of times. So, instead of following in his father’s footsteps, Albert decides on adventure. However, fate has other plans. One drunken night on his way home, he responds to the blood-curdling scream of a woman. He rushes her attacker and in the ensuing fight, he is bitten. Albert's world is changed forever. With that one savage bite, he is turned into a monster that people had believed was just a creation of an author's mind.
That night Albert becomes a vampire. Days turn into months, then years to decades as he struggles with the loss of his soul and humanity. He thought he was alone but as his friends and loved ones pass into memory, his own kind begin to make their presence known.

Vampire Rom Com
This is a very creatively written vampire tale that crosses several decades. It is fun and scary and has lots of action and energy. There is also lots of romance which is why I thought it was like a vampire romantic comedy. The narrator has a gorgeous voice and lovely diction and I would love to hear him read more.

Exactly what you want from a vampire novel
An excellent vampire story that has restored my faith in the genre. Not complicated with traditions or rituals- poor Albert just wants to live his life. Tells his tale from the streets of Victorian London to modern day New York.
Solid story that keeps you engaged. Enjoyed the little bits of dry humour sprinkled throughout. Narration and accents on point.

no to shabby.
I was given a free copy of this book and I'm leaving an honest and voluntary review.
So this isn't my usual kind of book. but I have to its charm and charismatic MC does draw you in. The other characters compliment the story as it progresses. Travelling through time with Berty is a fun ride.
the narration is perfectly suited to this victorian vampire story.
All round a decent and very entertaining book.

A fangtastic story from Nick James
The Victorian Vampire is a fun, enjoyable tale that takes us through the ages, as an old time vampire adapts to the modern age. With great characters, an engaging storyline, and filled with the customary Nick James humour, The Victorian Vampire is a story I highly recommend.

Nick James Strikes Again!
This is another great listen from Nick James, the characters are well developed and the plot interesting and in places very funny. A Vampire on the side of law and order... Bertie is a brilliant character, A Super Hero in Vampires body. Really enjoyed the book and Paul Hilliar's narration was once again spot on. Highly recommended.
I was kindly given a copy of this book by the author and leave this honest review voluntarily.

Not your average Vampire story
A highly recommend read...
I was initially unsure about this as its not my usual genre but the characters were so well written and narrated and I loved the main character and loved reading about all his ups and downs through his long, unfortunate and complicated life.
I'm so glad I stepped outside my reading comfort zone as Nick James and Paul Hilliar didn't fail to entertain.

Great story
I really enjoyed this book which starts in Victorian London and finishes in modern times. Violent in places but quite sad as he out grows all his relationships. Narration is excellent. Highly recommend
