About this listen

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on.

The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Through the chaos, some, like Zed Zane, discovered the virus wasn't going to kill them, but change them. Change them into something different, and leave them in a world where the word "survival" took on an older, more brutal meaning.

I couldn't put this down I listened from the first book to the very last. My favourite so far of any apocolypse series

it's good, there are a few flaws, and it feels like it's running out of steam by book 8, but don't let this deter you, following the story of Zed and company is something that I throughly enjoyed, I experienced emotions which to be fair not many books have the writing to pull off anymore, recurrent characters make this well worth going through and the moralising of zed from his actions provides more food for thought than I initially expected

got this free from the plus catalogue hadn't read anything by this author before, really enjoyed it and liked the 2 main characters. would recommend the boxset

Bobby Adair's Slow Burn is so good, amazing characters, a believe apocalyptic world, an incredible story and thoroughly enjoyable listen and I can't wait for book 10 now. The thing I loved about it is, it draws you in from chapter 1, the intensity of the fight for survival, you feel the emotions of the characters, it makes you laugh and you feel like you're in the middle of Zed and Murphy's journey through the apocalyptic mayhem. Great narration by Phil Thron he gives you a little checky bit of wit thrown to.
5 stars all the way.
