About this listen

What is the oldest, darkest secret in the world? The discovery of an ancient Greek text that could be the final piece of a mysterious puzzle older than time itself leads to a hunt for the truth as Joe Hawke fights to stop dark forces intent on changing the course of history forever.

Former Commando and SBS Special Forces operative Joe Hawke finds himself drawn into the most lethal archaeological treasure hunt in history in this high-stakes action adventure. Hawke races across nations to save the world from an ancient force so deadly its location was hidden forever by the Gods themselves - until now. Packed with fast-paced action and with a dash of humor on the side, this thrilling high-octane race from London to New York to Athens reaches its deadly climax in the caves of Kefalonia, where Hawke must stop an insane enemy from seizing the most powerful force in history and destroying human civilization.

The future of mankind is on a knife-edge...

It feels like someone is trying to write a wise cracking character that thinks he is in a 1970s Bond film. There are even a few lines and incidents taken from Bond films.Get passed the uncomfortable narrator that sometimes sounds like a comedy version of a foreign accent and you have a decent enough story to pass the time. Having read a lot of this type of fiction that mixes history, myths and modern day fiction I can say this is worth a listen.

Heavy Cliches

Main character was annoying, corny and predictable . Story was ok but a bit predictable also. Won’t bother with the next story

Corny

The mispronunciation of so many words , names etc was irritating. Terrible accents , weak story line and unbelievable yet stereotypical characters makes listening to this book a chore

Pronunciation sucks

I loved the flow of this audible book. The development of characters throughout is believable. Enjoyable listen.

Great story

Basic premise is interesting, but book is ruined by seriously cheesy dialogue, a trite romance story line and a narrator who emphasises almost every word rather than talking naturally.

Plot ok, but annoying narrator, ridiculous script

The characters are pretty one-dimensional, and as a group they constantly snipe at each other, yet we're expected to believe they suddenly have an amazing bond. The dialogue is clunky, the plot is average at best, bordering into nonsensical at times.

Unlikeable Characters, Uninteresting Narration

I have tried a few times butvthe way his voice goes up at tte end of every sentence just grated beyond belief. It is probably s good story but only if read by someone else.

Completely spoilt by the narrator
