About this listen

In the highly anticipated finale to the New York Times best-selling trilogy, dictators, prophets, and tensions rise. In a world that’s conquered death, will humanity finally be torn asunder by the immortal beings it created?

Citra and Rowan have disappeared. Endura is gone. It seems like nothing stands between Scythe Goddard and absolute dominion over the world scythedom. With the silence of the Thunderhead and the reverberations of the Great Resonance still shaking the earth to its core, the question remains: Is there anyone left who can stop him?

The answer lies in the Tone, the Toll, and the Thunder.

Got That Sequel Feeling

After that ending from the previous installment, I had serious trepidation about starting this book. And boy was I right.

An incredibly slow start through to a rushed end, but I don't see how it could have gone any other way. Ultimately, characters and plot points, especially toward the end could have been fleshed out more just to avoid that sense of rush. It felt like being shoved out of a door rather than guided towards it

The narrator did a fantastic job as always and am looking forward to finding more of his work

Keeps getting better!

I thought the first book was good, but not great. It felt a bit... teenage come to age style book with a cool idea but that was it.

But not was I wrong! The second book took the world created in the first and showed that it is a perfect setting for some truly tough questions. And then the third book just makes it even better, showing that there was PLENTY more in tow.

it is so satisfying to read a trilogy where you realize that the whole story was carefully crafter from the beginning, instead of more books just tacked on a successful first book.

I will miss this world now that the books are done. Thanks for writing the series! loved it, at least the last two books!

The Future is ....

This trilogy is well worth a listen; a little different from my usual listen with a sentimental ending and worth the credits.

Magnificent!

Just WOW! I found the second book not so promising as the first, but I realised it was just the anchor to The Toll, which just exceeded my expectations.. Congratulations for this wonderful book series!

Really Good Concept of the Future

A world that is getting overpopulated instigates, what to us mere mortals, a morbid way to control the population.
But as always the privileged few lead to no good.
The takes you from simple beginnings to the new end.
Brilliantly written, brilliantly performed.

I read this book straight after book 2. Really enjoyed the story line. Excellent, shame it had to end

The Toll

I personally was satisfied with the ending of this series. It was a rollercoaster ride with a slow build up, but when the plot moves it move fast to almost to the very end, until it gives you a chance to breath and settle down. it was great

Love it!

Did anyone else catch the My Little Pony fandom reference? "Pink Fluffy Unicorn jumping on rainbows". I laughed so hard.
This book is a dark grey for most of it. There's an air of melancholy hanging over the characters. Beautifully written
