About this listen

New York Times bestselling author and BookTok sensation Carissa Broadbent returns with a brand new novel in the Crowns of Nyaxia series, Songbird and the Heart of Stone, where A Court of Thorns and Roses meets Dante's Inferno, in an epic fantasy romance of love and treachery between mortals and gods.

Mische lost everything when she was forcibly Turned into a vampire—her home, her humanity, and most devastating of all, the love of the sun god to whom she had devoted her life. Now, sentenced to death for murdering the vampire prince who turned her, redemption feels impossible.

But when Mische is saved by Asar, the bastard prince of the House of Shadow with a past as brutal as his scars, she's forced into a mission worse than execution: a journey to the underworld to resurrect the god of death himself.

Yet, Mische's punishment may be the key to her salvation. In a secret meeting, her sun god commands her to help Asar in his mission, only to betray him… by killing the god of death.

Mische and Asar must travel the treacherous path to the underworld, facing trials, beasts, and the vengeful ghosts of their pasts. Yet, most dangerous of all is the alluring call of the darkness—and her forbidden attraction to Asar, a burgeoning bond that risks invoking the wrath of gods.

As her betrayal looms, the underworld closes in, and angry gods are growing restless. Mische will be forced to choose between the redemption of the sun or the damnation of the darkness.

continues to impress

This is a series that goes from strength to strength. What an ending, sitting patiently or not waiting on the next installment. You will not regret picking up The Serpent and the Wings of Night and to start the story!

Such an engaging story!

I read the first two Crowns of Nyaxia books and I loved them, but thought I'd try the audiobook for this (effectively third) book. The story is GREAT, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I wasn't 100% into the narration, I found the voices slightly grating in parts, but good enough to keep me listening. Safe to say I'll be buying the physical book and I can't wait for the next!

Epic

I really enjoyed the first two books I'm this series but this book took it to a whole new level! The story, the romance, the spice was all perfection! The cliffhanger and character reveal at the end, epic! I can't wait until the next book, I think this duology will be may fave!!! if I had one wish it would have been for it to be dual POV but that would have just been a bonus ans you get a taste of it in the epilogue. a must read!

Great story ending with a cliffhanger

Although I absolutely love this series it was hard to listen to the voice of Mischa- a very high pitched and weird intonation really put me off. Better than some AI voiced books, but still, not very pleasant experience for me personally.

Absolutely phenomenal ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

What happens to us when the truth that we have always known no longer applies….

Carissa is excellent at writing very vivid worlds, unique magic systems and likeable characters… I could not put this book down.
I loved every word of this book, possible the most vulnerable story I have read. It is a story full of fire and fear but also emotional and tender and delicate
The story deals with mortality and guilt and being afraid and unworthy, to be confused about your purpose and how unfair it all can be.

And the epilogue, with the cliffhanger at the end… left me speechless… I need the next book.. Like yesterday...

Songbird and the heart of stone

Very interesting story and a surprising end. Gave it 4 stars because it was a bit slow than the other Crowns of Niaxia books. Still a beautiful romantacy that starts to pick up after chapter 20. Curious to see what the next book brings especially after that ending.

Loved loved loved Asar

What a cliffhanger - really hoping next book is duo POV! Really enjoyed the underworld and necromancy, an excellent book in the series. Excited for the next one, hopefully it will come soon!

Feel very conflicted with this book as didn’t love it!

Ok so I may be in the minority but this book just didn’t hit the mark for me. The first half of the book was a slog & I wasn’t sure if I was going to finish it! The only reason I kept on was that I have loved all of carissa’s other books. This story just felt too much, too many creatures & repetitive battle scenes etc. i wasn’t invested enough in the developing romance to care what happened until near the end. I also didn’t like any of the characters apart from the main ones & Lucy the dog!!! I did enjoy misches backstory it was very well developed & feed throughout the story. Quite heartbreaking really!
The ending was good though & I didn’t see the twists but it all got good too near the end. I will read the next book when it eventually comes out as overall I love this series & now see potential for the next book.
