About this listen

When a mint copy of the final album by Valerian - England's great lost rock band of the 1960s - surfaces, all hell breaks loose. Finding this record triggers a chain of events culminating in our hero learning the true fate of the singer of Valerian, who died under equivocal circumstances just after...or was it just before the abduction of her two-year-old son?

Along the way the Vinyl Detective finds out what happened to the missing child, and it wasn't what anyone expected - or wanted - to hear.

Awesome captivating read with sublime description. Great scenes of jazz record shops and boutique coffee houses, took me right there.

Best book in ages

These adventures are thoroughly enjoyable, their characters at once fantastical and utterly believable. Great performance.

Groovy.

Great story again. Shame it's not the same narrator as the first one. but still looking forward to the third one.

another good installment

Shame this didn't match up to the last book for me. The story wasn't as good. I will check out the next one, as long as the Author drops the Cleanhead nickname, it's worn thin in this book and used too often

not as good as the last one

I have really enjoyed listening it’s a bit silly in parts reminded me of the famous five. If the author can think up some different Plots ( ie someone is always one step ahead and gets implausible in the same way) they are onto a winner. Can see this a tv series too...

Very pleasant read but a bit samey as the last one

I really enjoyed the second book in this series and the way the characters have developed. I was slightly disappointed that the Nevada, the girlfriend doesnt have the same interesting and alluring personality in this book but it didnt spoil the story. The thing that was most disappointing was the narrator. He reads the book well though he doesnt have different voices for the characters so it can be confusing at times knowing who is speaking but, if it had been the same narrator from book one onwards i wouldnt know any different and would enjoy the book but the narrator in book one was so so good. Why oh why did they have to change.
Having said that, i found that i couldnt wait to listen to the next chapter and thoroughly enjoyed the story unfolding and the mystery of what was transpiring. The humour is good, the story interesting and engaging and I have already ordered the next book in the series. This makes a nice change from just a detective solving a crime. Great listen.

A good second book

A good follow up to the first novel that involves the same characters but a different and equally captivating plot line. Think vinyl, cats and charity shops!!
The narrator maintains the right level of lightheartedness.

Quirky- a recommended listen.

Book two , is an engrossing tale. This time our hero and his partner are seeking a rare album made by the sixties group “Valerian” which is also the stage name of their lead singer , when something terrible happens to the Cannot say much more really because of spoilers! Once again a clever plot. Very highly recommended

Run out success....
