About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
From the mastermind behind The Dangerous Damsels series, India Holton delivers another fantastical and whimsical story that's perfect to read with a cup of tea . . .
Rival ornithologists hunt through Europe for dangerous magical birds in this historical fantasy romance. If Indiana Jones featured manners, tea, and helicopter parasols – this would be it!
----
Two rival ornithologists.
Seeking one dangerous, beautiful bird.
Is the hunt of their lives also how they find the love of their lives?
Professor Beth Pickering is on the verge of finally capturing the rare Deathwhistler bird when Professor Devon Lockley swoops in, stealing both her bird and her imagination.
For his part, Devon has never been more smitten than when he first set eyes on Beth.
When a competition to become Birder of the Year by capturing an endangered caladrius bird is announced, Beth and Devon are forced to team up to have any chance of winning.
They're hunting the rarest of species. But will these rivals discover something even more endangered – true love . . .

Bridgerton meets Legendary Beasts and have a threesome with Fawlty Towers
It was incredibly funny and entertaining. I listened to it because the English Bookshop selected this as the book of the month December. I’m not really interested in romance books but this was fun. Mainly funny :)

Brilliant as always
India Hilton will forever be one of my favourite authors. The humour in all of her stories crack me up every time. The storylines are always leaving me wanting more. This book was no exception. It was brilliant and had gotten me out of my reading slump. I cannot wait for what she brings out next.
As a woman with Autism and a massive introvert I have never felt fully represented in books however India provides perfect representation every time. I related so much to Beth in this book. I also love that the women in her stories are never damsels in distress and use their intellect to get out of situations.
The performance in every one of her audio books are always phenomenal and comforting. I could listen to Elizabeth read anything. What an amazing voice actor!
Thank you India for another amazing comfort read that I will be reading over and over for years to come.

Madcap academic romcom with magical birds
This has all the hallmarks of a classic India Holton adventure - humour, keenly observed human nature and a little bit of magic. I love the academic references, Beth and Devon are delightful and I love how their passion for ornithology becomes a passion for each other, they’re just lovely and you can’t help rooting for them. Anyone who’s ever had to stand up to a thesis advisor will also find some of the climatic scenes oddly cathartic.

Another success
I love the narration (very important for me), love the way India writes and the story was a bit of fun. Easy listening and fun could easily enjoy one of these a week, if she could write fast enough.
