About this listen

For the audio book version, Dr. Warren Farrell personally rewrote the highlights of The Myth of Male Power as a dialogue. The questions are similar to what others will ask you when you discuss these issues. You’ll have Dr. Farrell’s best answers.

The Myth of Male Power helps each family member understand that genuine power is neither status nor money, but “control over one's life.” He documents that virtually every society that has survived has done so by persuading its sons to be disposable--whether in war or in work; and therefore indirectly as dads. And disposability is not power.

Considered the Bible of men's studies—yet highly empathetic to women (Dr. Farrell was repeatedly elected to the Board of the National Organization for Women in NYC)-- the meticulously researched The Myth of Male Power takes the listener on a captivating journey around the world, throughout history, biology, the Bible, the law, and everyday life, challenging every currently-held assumption about men, women and the family.

In his compassionate voice, Warren answers questions like, "Doesn't the fact that men earn more mean they have more power?" with "The road to high pay is a toll road—tolls such as working more hours, being away from our family, being engineers, not artists…." Farrell posits that men have mistakenly defined power as "feeling obligated to earn money someone else spends while he dies sooner."

To help each family member appreciate parents and grandparents, Farrell shares, "in the past, neither sex had genuine power; both sexes had roles: women's role: raise children; men's role: raise money. Our grandparents didn't preach rights--they preached responsibilities. Both moms and dads sacrificed so their children's lives would be better than theirs."

Dr. Farrell gives a 100% refund if this doesn’t generate one of your family’s most valuable discussions. See www.warrenfarrell.com.

I earned a déjà vu badge listening to this interview over and over again. THIS NOT THE BOOK!

I initially thought this was the book, but it turned out to be an interview. The interview is great and offers substantial insights, but it seems to serve more as a promotion for the book, which isn't available on Audible. Despite enjoying the interview and finding it inspiring, I was already inclined to purchase the book beforehand. I'm disappointed that I still need to buy the book elsewhere and that it's not available in audio format. Nonetheless, the interview was very enjoyable.

Just to make others aware,

this title is in the form of an interview, I nevertheless found the format quite enjoyable.

Not the book but a interview

I liked the interview but really expected to be buying the book. Can't help but think that this is due to bad information.

But Warren is good man to listen to

A very interesting interview that will make you think

I was hoping to find the whole book here but it turned out to be only an interview. Nonetheless, it was interesting and revealing.

The author shows very good understanding of both female and male problems and defends both sexes equally. Of course, the emphasis is on neglected male problems.

An intelligent, academic gentleman wrote the truth

Almost forever men struggled and still do, unfortunately men were /are trouble to express their thoughts and feelings.
I fought for women rights for over 10 years and when I moved to" the west" I found The left wing and phase 5 of feminism killing every male slowly, by destroying their dignity, masculinity and character.
And no one dare to do everything.
Even this book you can't find it in Sweden for example because no ome wanna know the truth.

Thought provoking

This makes you pause to rethink everything you’ve been sold.
I am now almost scared of the female gender. Humans have got a lot of work to do.

This book is a MUST READ for every young adult male (preferably just before you turn 18).

Brilliant

This book has changed my viewpoint on gender issues, gender politics and more. We need this book to sell more, so gender politics can be revolutionized!

Eye-opening

Though there were some points I didn't quite agree with or where the idea of the myth of male power seemed to be stretched perhaps too far, for the most part of the book I was in complete awe of how blind I'd been to the many ways men are put at a disadvantage. Each point the author makes is backed by detailed statistics. This is clearly a well-researched life's work and I hope that more women read it.
