About this listen

An urgent cry for help brings Poirot to France…

An urgent cry for help brings Poirot to France. But he arrives too late to save his client, whose brutally stabbed body now lies face downwards in a shallow grave on a golf course.

But why is the dead man wearing his son’s overcoat? And who was the impassioned love-letter in the pocket for? Before Poirot can answer these questions, the case is turned upside down by the discovery of a second, identically murdered corpse…

Agetha at her best

A really good mystery. Hadn't seen this one on TV , so I was clueless as to the murderer right to the reveal. Hugh Fraser is the perfect narrator, and I loved listening to him.

Much enjoyed

Late to the written Poirot - Murder on the Links is my second book - I’m delighted to think that I have so many treats in store. The combination of Agatha Christie’s story telling and Hugh Fraser’s reading is superbe!

A tale of daring do and romance!

I don't remember the tv adaptation being this exciting! It starts like a normal Poirot mystery, then becomes far more animated, featuring feisty acrobatic ladies. Christie was certainly doing her bit for womens lib in 1923 when this was published. Plus, there's romance a-plenty! It's hard to imagine that this was written before films had sound or colour, 100 years ago as it stands the test of time so well.

Usual brilliance

I gradually found myself getting lost in the twists and turns of characters towards the end.

Great rendition but story too serpentine

Great story still but a bit too serpentine. Great narration though and I still enjoyed it.

Traditional who done it

An old favourite, a comfortable "listen again" book; for me, it never gets old.
That Hastings finds his true love is a charming bonus.

Hugh Fraser does it again

Another master class from Hugh Fraser whose range of voices both male and female is fantastic. He can speak French and does a credible Hercule Poirot and of course Arthur Hastings!Well worth listening to his narrations of Agatha Christie books in the Audible library.

Enjoyable early Poirot

Probably my favourite early Poirot read by the ever excellent Hugh Fraser. This has quite an involved plot that is well suited for an audiobook as you can pay attention to the details. The only minor criticism is that the accent for Cinderella is too posh. Her character is not meant to be of the same social class as Hastings.
