About this listen

The Cadian Gate is broken, and the Imperium is riven in two. The might of the Traitor Legions, kept shackled for millennia behind walls of iron and sorcery, has been unleashed on a darkening galaxy. Among those seeking vengeance on the Corpse Emperor’s faltering realm are the Death Guard, once proud crusaders of the Legiones Astartes, now debased creatures of terror and contagion.

Mighty warbands carve bloody paths through the void, answering their lord primarch’s call to war. And yet for all their dread might in arms, there is no escape from the vicious legacies of the past, ones that will pursue them from the ruined daemon-worlds of the Eye of Terror and out into the smouldering wastes of the Imperium Nihilus.

Great story

really good book performed brilliantly that paints a strong picture of whats there and the sense of the world may seem a bit muddled at the start but comes together really well by the end.

I used to hink Deathgusrd were goofy fanatics. Then word of God says they are actually miserable. The truth is far more interesting. Great worldbuilding. Diverse vharacters qnd new perspetives. i loved it.

Starts slow, picks up

Started very slowly but picked up a lot towards the end. Outstanding performance. The more I thought about it once I finished it the more it grew on me.

2nd best 40k novel

Narration is brilliant throughout. The story follows a consistent thread weaved together with rich characters and intrigue. The death guard are a very flavourful legion and this book conveys them brilliantly.

Great intro to Chaos perspective

As a filthy casual 40k fan this was my first foray into the lore aspect of the hobby. It's a great insight into DG ideology and a decent story to boot. Not life changing but a great way to spend my time painting my plague marines.

JUST BRILLIANT!!!

Lately, there has been some great writing from the perspective of the Death Guard, especially in the Indomitus series... Its about time the ruinous powers were depicted as vaguely competent.

fantasic development of the story.

this certainly developes the story and gives you better insight into the sons of the Mortarian, as well as the Primarch himself.
