About this listen
Mysterious, magical, and a little bit deadly… Welcome to Unholy Island.
Luke Taylor was searching for his missing twin brother when he discovered a new purpose on a magical tidal island. Living in a quirky bookshop is a dream come true—he just didn’t expect it to be so damn dangerous.
Running a business on a tiny island was always going to bring challenges, but Luke didn’t bargain on strange customers, hexed books, or a sentient shop that seems to have its own ideas about how things ought to be done.
Not to mention his deepening feelings for the island’s resident witch...Esme Gray became the island’s Ward Witch seven years ago and has built a life of safety and quiet for herself. A balm for her abusive past.
Her feelings for the new Book Keeper have disturbed those calm waters, and when his life is threatened, she doesn’t hesitate to dive in to help. But is she strong enough to pull them both out alive?
The Book Keeper is the second book in the Unholy Island series. Drift away with this Cosy Fantasy today!
*The Unholy Island series is set in the same world as the urban fantasy mystery books, Crow Investigations, but it can be enjoyed independently.

Love the characters
I enjoyed the storyline of this the latest instalment of the going’s-on, on Unholy island. The characters are growing as we learn more about them. Love the occasional link to ‘The families’. Can’t wait for the next one.

Surprisingly, prefer this series to Crow Investigations
I suppose the ideas of a sanctuary island comparable to an English city is more relatable to attract if a minority civilisation were to exist.
Avid reader of adult horror whilst very young I find little affects me anymore. Consuming King, Herbert, Koonz, Wheatley & Masterton from my parents collections and libraries instead of Jennifer Yellow Hat will do that. So nowadays I’m allowing my local librarians to entice me with other genres I would usually pass on.
However a few authors have succeeded at producing characters I do so endear to learn more and S. Painter beholds a treasure trove of them. I find myself awaiting more about the three sisters, mayor and the friendly ghost attached to a cafe, of all things!
I will reluctantly indulge the ‘lovey dubby’ episodes for the protagonist’s story lines as I understand most readers enjoy this apparent predictability but other than this inevitable hormonal leak I remain a seasoned female reader willing the author to keep her magical inspirations printing so I for one can enjoy her journeys too.

Fallen in love with trilogy
After speeding through the first book I was expecting great things from this one and it did not disappoint, the style of writing really draws you into the world and you feel like you are getting to know them at the same time as they get to know one another. The narrator does such a wonderful job and so well suited to the feel of the book.
Away to start book three and hoping Sarah bring out more related material…..but I still have the crow investigations to keep me going can’t wait to start them.

Another fantastic trip to Unholy Island.
Sarah has such a way with her characters that draws you in and makes you want to know everything about them. This, coupled with another great story makes an interesting tale that builds at an unhurried pace peppered with the characters we have already grown to love. Can't wait for the next one!

Not as good as the first
I like the setting and the idea of how the island works for the book setting but this story was disjointed and I just didn't like it that much- the self harm description was also very unnecessary to the story and horrible to listen too. However the are aspects of the story I like to hear about a lot such as the shop.
