Entertaining listen!

This new series has a lot of promise. It’s got more grit and appeal for fans of Claire who have continued to read or listen to her stories for over a decade.
The characters are well penned and many are slow burning - it will be interesting to see where they end up.
The swapping of readers is fine, and mostly works.
There are some sound editing issues that ought to have been tidied.

Good world building, not enough reveals

The two performers need to coordinate better, characters had different accents depending on who was speaking. Enjoyed it overall, interesting story and characters but there were not enough reveals at the end of this book to make me excited for the next - I’m basically just completely in the dark about 8 things and feel they could’ve clued us in about something.

Re - review

I apologize to Cassandra Clare for my previous review. There is a second book. It does not appear on the title details page unless you click on the one book appearing under included in the series. It is not yet available on Audible, perhaps soon 🙏

Another good read from Cassandra

Once again Cassandra draws you in, I was a bit dubious about a whole new world away from the shadow hunters but she hasn’t disappointed!

Bonkers premise, and no proper ending

I enjoyed listening to this book overall, and will probably listen to the next one. The world and characters are built up nicely. But what bugs me is that one of the main characters is sometimes supposed to be a secret body double for the prince, and then sometimes he's just pretending to be the prince's cousin. In the decade that they've been doing it, has nobody ever said "Hey Prince Conor, where is your cousin/friend today, when you've spent the last ten years with him constantly at your side and you guys even sleep in the same room?" And don't the palace tailors ever ask, "Why does the prince often get two sets of identical clothes made for big one-off occasions?"

My other main peeve is that the book just stops mid-story. Not even on a cliffhanger. Is that supposed to encourage me to read the next book? I might not bother, because I don't want to reward that kind of behaviour from publishers and authors. I would rather have a proper beginning, middle and end, albeit with some little threads left hanging to lead me into the next book.

It was ok, I'll probably continue with the series but I'm not excited about the next one

it was hardwork at the start!

This whole book was written to make it to the last couple of chapters. It was unbelievably difficult to get into, but by 2/3 of the way through I'd got attached to the characters and was curious enough to get to the end.
was it worth it? Honestly, I think I need book 2 to have an opinion on that.

It was a really long introduction - I think that's the best way to explain it!!

Good

Good, wish I could just put stars instead of having to fill in the words

Starter

A new concept. It did not grip me from the start like Magisterium or the Shadowhunters did. Perhaps I will have to relisten to it. Narration is Excellent, i just feltvthe storyline was slow.
