About this listen

Loretta has life under control. This completely took me by surprise. I thought I had it all figured out at the beginning and was pleasantly surprised when it went in ways I wasn't expecting. It was great at making you think it was about to fulfil some trope or other, and then shake its finger at you with a small smile.

The main character has a great way of putting things, and I found myself smiling and agreeing a lot. Phoebe is wonderful and the other characters are also brilliant, and so real!

I'm not ashamed to say this made me tearful at points. It covers topics such as grief, relationships, parenting, with such insight and sensitivity. I also laughed though. it paints such a full picture of life - warts and all.

Safe to say I love it, and the narrator is terrific at all the voices and performance. Just brill.

I haven’t enjoyed a book this much for such a long time. Couldn’t wait to clip my dogs on their leads and get my headphones in to listen to the wonderful story of Loretta and Phoebe.
If you are looking for a heart warming yet not sickly sweet book to cheer you up, this is the book for you.

Once I started listening to this excellent recording, found it difficult to stop listening, was completely hooked. Highly recommend!

Excellent Story - Captivating

I started to skip great chunks of it fairly early on having heard the same inner narrative over and over again about what am unlikeable character this unlikeable character was. I tried to listen on to find out what happened, but after a short while I found I just didn't care. I don't like to write negative reviews but I really wished I could have got a refund on this one.
