About this listen
He’s known as the executioner for one of Chicago’s most dangerous crime organizations…
But I know him as my best friend’s father.
My name is Sia Reynolds. I’m a girl with an unsettling past, and the outlook of my future seems even bleaker. I need a job to get my life back on track so when my best friend (and only friend) Lettie suggests I work for her more than abrasive father I have little choice but to take her up on the offer. I had no idea that meant committing to a life of secrecy bathed in blood…
Nor how much I’d like it.
My name is Maxim Petrov, and my father is the head of the Chicago Bratva. I’m thirty-six-years old, and I want to make the young girl in my home bleed. I’d take great pleasure out of it, but what’s more alarming is what I’d like to do more. Sia Reynolds would look lovely flushed against my sheets, but she’s my daughter’s friend and nearly half my age. Pity as I’d enjoy seeing her tremble in a different way. I want to chase her as much as I’d enjoy a taste…
I may not be able to resist either.
Sia is a standalone contemporary dark romance inspired by Anastasia. It’s not a literal retelling, and the hero has so many red flags there’s no way I’m telling my mother I actually wrote this story. A full list of content warnings will be posted on the author’s website upon release.
Note: This book was partially published on Kindle Vella as a serial, but it’s now complete and ready. Nothing major has been changed about the story. Enjoy!

I liked that Sia began and mostly is a nice wholesome romance story of a guy meeting a girl, but sprinkle in the age gap, being her best friend's dad and the fact that he is involved in a very influential russian mafia family and that adds some darkness to it. The main fmc has her own troubled past, foster homes, childhood trauma you name it, she also not grown up rich so is much more down to earth and aware of the darker side on real life which makes her perfect for Maxim. She's felt powerless and out of control for so long and it isn't until Maxim that she truly realises and accepts the truth about herself with his love and devotion. She pulls Maxim out of the shadows and into the light to enjoy life, to give himself something more than his work and his daughter.
Overall, this was a really good listen, it had an amazing plot and storyline, great side characters who literally made it everything, especially Val, and heaps of hot and spicy scenes. Anastasia has been and still is one of my all time favourite childhood films so given this is a loosely based retelling meant that I was guaranteed to like it from the start but I'm glad that it also lived up to my expectations. I highly recommend this book to those who love the mafia romances because this is will most definitely be one they would regret not reading.
