About this listen
She’s strong. She’s smart. And she’s way in over her head.
Deena Sharpe knows nothing about investigating a cold-blooded murder, but when her sweet aunt asks her to find out who killed her son, that’s exactly what Deena agrees to do. Only hitch, he died 50 years earlier, although his body was just discovered in a sheriff’s forgotten evidence closet.
To make matters worse, a big-city conspiracy nut is determined to cash in on her family’s misfortune and implicate Deena’s dead cousin in the crime of the century. Can this small-town, southern woman with genteel manners outwit those who’d rather keep the truth under wraps, or will her family make front page news for all the wrong reasons?
Sharpe Shooter: Skeleton in the Closet is the first standalone whodunit in the clean and humorous Cozy Suburbs Mysteries series. If you like perplexing puzzles, quirky characters, and a mature, savvy sleuth, you’ll love Lisa B. Thomas’ mysteries with heart and humor.
Buy Sharpe Shooter today to unmask a killer and get a good chuckle along the way.
©2015 Lisa B. Thomas (P)2019 Lisa B. ThomasA really fun detective story with Deena and friends digging into the past, and discovering more about the family history than was comfortable. Numerous twists in the investigation and relationship interaction set in a Texan small town with all of it's gossip and prejudices, this makes for an enjoyable, and sometimes infuriating, read. The narrator is Kelley Hazen, whose deliciously intoned voice and Texan accent is a joy to hear. Always well paced and cadenced, she reads the text with warmth and gives individual voice to each of the numerous protagonists.
This is a quick and easy read with a good story line and a cast of often colourful characters. And is the first book in a series of Maycroft Mysteries.
Sometimes the truth hurts more than it helps.

I really enjoyed how this book was written and narrated. It is funny and interesting and even before the audience realises it, the mystery has been solved and the audiobook is done. Luckily there are plenty more opportunities to visit Maycroft and to solve mysteries with Deena Sharpe.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
Humorous start to a fantastic series
