About this listen

The deliciously witty, irresistible new novel from the top 10 Sunday Times best-selling author of Not Quite Nice follows the exploits of two women on an Atlantic cruise ship.

The phone hasn't rung for months. Suzy Marshall is discovering that work can be sluggish for an actress over 60 - even for the former star of a 1980s TV series. So when she's offered the plum role of Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Earnest in Zurich, it seems like a godsend. Until, that is, the play is abruptly cancelled in suspicious circumstances, and Suzy is forced to take a job on a cruise ship to get home.

Meanwhile, Amanda Herbert finds herself homeless in rainy Clapham. Her flat purchase has fallen through, and her children are absorbed in their own dramas. Then she spots an advertisement for an Atlantic cruise and realises a few weeks on board would tide her over - and save her money - until the crisis is solved.

As the two women set sail on a new adventure, neither can possibly predict the strange characters and dodgy dealings they will encounter - nor the unexpected rewards they will reap. Vividly evoking the old-world glamour of a cruise ship - and the complex politics of its staff quarters - Sail Away is at once a hilarious romp and a thrilling tale of intrigue, from the acclaimed pen of Celia Imrie.

I really enjoy listening to Celia Imrie and i found this book enjoyable as I did her previous one. Characters were relatable and could eve not imagine the ship and the furnishings from the descriptions.

Easy to listen to and enjoyable

the best kind of whodunit where the reader / listener has accessto most of the clues and stays one step ahead of the characters. Loved it and wil probably listen again at a more leisurely pace as i could hardly wait to finish it this time.

This was one of those books that kept me awake at night - because, having started to listen in bed, I kept on wanting to listen! A delightful story with an equally delightful sense of humour.

My first Celia Imrie book and it was thoroughly addictive....
Very enjoyable and so nice that she narrated this book herself which adds to the drama of the book as she is such a great actress.

Not my usual genre but I really enjoyed the story and the narration was excellent. I may even try another of the author's novels

Yet again an excellent piece of storytelling by Celia Imrie. Lots of characters which you are allowed to get involved with. A good bit after sleuthing. Recommend.

It is not often I read/listen to a book and am disappointed it finished. This has been an excellent listen and Celia Imrie's reading and the skill of different voices made it very pleasurable to listen to.
She is also an excellent writer of a tale which kept me wanting to know how it was going to pan out.

Disappointed it finished!
