About this listen

Enemies emerge everywhere. Stagnation starts seeming standard. Results require Ruthlessness.

Joe has been moving deeper into his study of ritual magic and further away from his combat team. He's learning more and more, but more often than not needs to choose between his research and squad leadership. Improving the town is a huge help to the guild, and they have been pushing to increase their power.

Their rapid increases have not gone unnoticed. The guild receives an ultimatum, delivered by assassins and signed with blood. If they continue to accrue power and fame, each and every person with a grievance against the guild will come to smash the town back to square one.

With tensions coming to a head, all Joe wants to do is leave it all behind and reach the next area. He flatly refuses the guild when they ask him to devise lethal options to use against the gathering army, but when the time comes...even Joe is unsure if he'll step into the limelight and show everyone exactly how ruthless he can be.

the story is good but its so heavy on pg13 mature filter some painfull jokes and people over 30 and older acting like 13 year olds in wierd situations, narration is very over acted and sometimes ruins the story.

Other than that the story is good and if you get over these few issues was a decent listen.

Story is good but narration painfully overacted

This is another fantastic book from Dakota Krout.
I enjoyed every second of it. The story continues and takes some great turns some expected some not. I can not wait for the next book. Pretty sure it will be called Exile.

I did feel Luke performance in some places got a bit silly and over the top and did make Joe sound a bit of a clown but aside from that great job.

I would like to know whats going on with Earth, that was barely mention in book 4 i think and now thing...?! seems a bit odd.

Another Outstanding book.

if you have read the other related books then you know what you are in for mostly. there were some surprises that I really enjoyed and I love figuring out the links to the other books.

I love Luke's performance in anything he narrates but I fine it hard to go from one voice actor to another but I am over it now. it would not be so bad but I have we listened to the first book recently it was in my mind

another great link in the chain

Loved listening to this book! (Even if I already read the book version twice) it’s always wonderful to see the characters that were already lively become even more so with the help of Luke Daniels! Always amazing to see the words you over looked come to the full meaning behind them! One question why is Crim a macho 30 year old man?

As wonderful as always!

Like

Luke Daniels - his narration makes this so much more enjoyable. The story really moves along and Joe doesn’t always succeed which makes this less predictable.
Jackson is just an awesome character

Great story

Dislike
When Vikas Adam read this the way he said Manner ! Luke Daniels isn’t as bad thankfully.
