About this listen
I work in a sports agency with jocks all day long and there's no one I'd want to date.
Emily
There is nothing better than a mocha frappe on the way to the office in the morning and Sunday spent on South Beach. I'm getting closer to the big 3-0 and finding that perfect guy is getting harder and harder even though I work for a sports agency buzzing with jocks. They are married, players, or jerks. Life changes on a dime when I'm sent to Maine amidst a blizzard to rescue a rookie who's managed to get himself in trouble his first week playing for the NHL team, the Maine Maulers. I can’t wait to get Wyatt back on track so I can leave this godforsaken frozen state that seems more like Siberia than New England. I'm in a mood by the time I track Wyatt down at the hockey pond. His devilish good looks combine with the way he fills out his old jeans in all the right places ...and how sexy he looks leaning on his hockey stick…maybe there is something special about this young jock that is pushing all my buttons.
Wyatt
It’s supposed to be the highlight of my young life when I score my first goal in an NHL game. But how was I to know that the last girl in the bar after that celebration with the guys was the goalie’s sister? And that she's getting even with her boyfriend for ignoring her? Now the team is out of sync and messing with our goalie’s head as he’s losing games over the drama. Management isn’t happy, so I need my agent to go to bat for me. Only it’s not Dan who shows up, but some smoking hot big city chick who looks like a nine on a scale of 10, and that means she’s off-limits as in high maintenance. I need her to help me fix my reputation with my team as the press is sniffing around for the dirt but after that, I will happily part ways with her only…. Emily turns out to be everything that makes my world complete.
I just don’t know if she can give up her city ways for a life in rural Maine when she loves the sound of the ocean and sand under her toes.
Rookie in Love is an enemies to lovers, forced proximity opposites attract, fish out of water steamy romance with a HEA. The series is best if listened to in order.

This is the first book of Zoe's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Wyat and Emily. I liked that we got both of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
I can't wait for the next book in the series Jagged Ice to be released on audio so I can get Alexandre and Callie's story.
Camille and Tom did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like sports romances, contemporary romances, or instant connection romances.

Tom Haire and Camille Quinn bring this sports romance alive. Haire is a fast favorite of mine, and each time I hear him narrate, I know I am in for a treat. He understands his characters and as Wyatt, he has a little innocence as he figures out his life. I love how he gives him the maturity to know what he wants. This is my first Quinn narration and I truly enjoyed her. She has a youthful sound, yet as Emily she brings out her unease, passion and love. This is a great narration and one to grab now!
Love a hockey romance!

This was my first book by this author and although I really enjoy hockey romances and a reverse age gap was appealing, this story fell a little flat for me. I had a hard time connecting with the characters/story and I never felt a head over heels attraction between them with hot chemistry. There was a lot of focus on the h being 28, internal thoughts etc and the pacing was really slow at some parts of the story. I did find the characters likable but was just hopeful for more.

I believe this was my first listen for both narrators - Camille Quinn and Tom Haire

Emily was so focused on her age as her being too old. When did 28 or 29 become old? I don’t even know that most people would consider being 30 as too old anymore. I think that was part of my issue was that the age difference was such a huge focus in the story, and yes, I think that having a 10-year difference is definitely something that could present issues in a relationship. But the storyline and Emily’s complaints in particular made it seem like she was this much older, more mature woman who was set in her ways and had lived so much life that she wasn’t sure if she could change. I would expect something like that more from a woman who was in her mid to late 40s. From a woman who possibly had children or maybe had many years of marriage or had decades of work and life experience under her belt. But that wasn’t the case with Emily. Again, she was still in her late 20s. There are plenty of other stories I have read in which being in your 20s is the norm for the leading lady. Even late 20s, almost 30, isn’t something that was looked at as particularly old. So, it just didn’t sit well with me her focus on her age.
On the other hand, I will say that I was able to understand a little bit more the concern with Wyatt only being 19. But at the same time having the talent and follow through to become a professional athlete in the major leagues takes a certain level of drive and dedication that I personally would think would add maturity. I don’t think he was given nearly enough credit for that.
I also liked the dog. I like how in a way it brought the two main characters together. But other than the narration being pretty good, I’m not sure that I can really find more than the dog and the performance of the story that I really liked.
