About this listen

He's known as Father Anton to his teammates - the brooding, sexy captain of the NHL's Chicago Blaze has a reputation for...not having a reputation. Just like his diet and sleep routines, celibacy is part of Anton Petrov's on-ice mojo. Or so they say. Anton stays mum on the subject. If the world thinks he chooses to abstain from sex, so be it. Better that than the truth getting out: There is a woman he burns for, but he can never have her. She's his teammate's wife, after all.

Mia Marceau is finally on her own. Now that she and her husband are living apart, she's finding the peace she was desperate for. She spends her days in classes and late nights bartending, making her own way in the world at last. After what she's been through, as long as her husband leaves her alone, she doesn't plan to rock the boat. He still has the power to hurt those dearest to her, and she can't demand a divorce with such a high cost.

A chance encounter with Mia has Anton hoping for a shot he never thought he'd get. And while she's drawn to the intense, serious hockey center, Mia's leery about playing with fire. That's all Anton has ever known for Mia, though - a living, burning desire that won't be denied - no matter the cost.

Contains mature themes.

Anton&Mia

I really enjoyed this book. Nice plot, Nice characters. I really liked the dialogue, and laughed so much at times i cried. I found some things missing though.
Mia's holding her secret for too long without being properly explained why. Why she has this much fear and stresses out so much. I think it would be easier if there were some flashbacks at the proper moments about her relationship with her ex and how much he really destroyed her. Or, how he managed to cut her off her friends.
On the other hand, it would be really nice if we get to see the moment Anton saw Mia for the first time. It seemed to me more physical attraction which makes no sense to be celibate for two years just because of that. Overall, I liked it because it encounteres themes i dont come around often, like an abusing ex, who does not give a divorce.
Both narrators performance was exceptional ✨👏🏻

Excellent

What a lovely patient gentleman Anton was to wait for his Mia. It’s a beautiful love story. Mia’s awful husband got what he deserved. Abusive partners should be avoided, but sometimes you don’t see it. Both narrators were good.

Erm …

Great narrators but the story needs work - felt mildly cringe i parts and the serious parts quite intense

Gets a 1 star for lack of trigger warning

'Contains mature themes' isn't enough, there's a really horrifying scene in chapter 17 that appears without warning, and I wouldn't have picked up this book if I'd known it was there.

story was ok but needlessly complicated

first she was married, then she was abused, then she was infertile and she kept all these secrets that were just stupid. why would she have a relationship with this guy when he made it clear he wanted kids.
then the performers were off and didn't suit the characters. the girl was droll and a little monotoned. and the guy came across as sassy at times that didn't at all match what the character was portraying.
