About this listen
Dallas Boone
Welcome to Big Bend—my nightmare and my home, all in one.
I don't fit in here. I don't fit in anywhere. I've made so many mistakes. Over and over.
Two of those mistakes haunt me. One, being responsible for a friend losing his job and reputation in this town. And two, well, that one is even worse.
I ruined so many lives with one stupid decision I barely even remember. And now, I'm going to pay for it.
Colt Howe
Kensley. A place I never wanted to be again. But I had to come back home. My sister Chloe needs me, which is more important than escaping the town I grew up in.
I'm here for two reasons and two reasons only: my sister and my nephew. I'll make sure my nephew has a better life than I had. That his father is there for him, whether he wants to be or not. That's my promise.
I was so damn close to getting out of this town for good. Right in that red zone, I could see the goal, but then I got hit with a force I never saw coming.
And that changed everything.

pure perfection
I have so many feelings when it comes to this book... good and bad.
Before you think there's something wrong with the book, hear me out first because IT WAS PERFECT. The bad feelings come from the way I feel towards certain characters. Dallas deserves the world, THE WHOLE M F WORLD, and those people don't.
All the good feelings, tho? Omg... I don't even know if I'll be able to express them fully.
Dallas is the sweetest, most broken boy, and he needs to be kept safe and protected at all costs. He should be walking around with a FRAGILE sign because he needs to be treated with care.
Colt had come back home with a mission, and he did succeed, but not in the way he expected. Meeting Dallas changed everything for him, but the way he changed Dallas' life is something I'll forever cherish.
These two are absolutely PERFECT together. From the first moment they met, you can tell that Colt knew how precious he was, even if sometimes it didn't come across that way. He saw it, and he made sure to show that to Dallas as well.
I loved how careful he was with him, how patient, and how loving he was. I loved how he never pushed, but he also always made sure Dallas knew he was there if he needed him.
Their interactions were always so fascinating to read about, and as I told Nicole their first time together, it was one of the most beautiful first-time scenes I've ever read. It was so personal, so both sided ( idk how to say this otherwise cuz it'll spoil it ). It was unfiltered, raw, pure. You could just tell how much they wanted to be together. It was everything.
Their story progressed so beautifully, so naturally. They became friends, and then they became lovers. They became each other's safe space, and Dallas needed that. A safe space. A space where he could be himself... and Colt gave him that.
Gaaaaah, I could speak about them till tomorrow, and I'd still find new things to love, but I'll let you discover them. They are worth it.
Read this book, love it, and thank me afterwards.
