About this listen

Two rivals, one secret, and a shot at forever....

Jake:

Favorite things and peeps: hockey, family, friends.

Least favorite person in the entire history of the universe: Mason Trinsky.

I have my reasons, but since you’re curious, Trinsky is a showboat and a loudmouth. Sure, he’s a great athlete. Good for him. I accept that we have mutual friends, and I grudgingly accept that he’ll be a coach at Elmwood Junior Camp this summer—however, I plan to keep my distance.

Of course, some wise guy pairs us up for a camping expedition, and everything that can go wrong does go wrong.

Guess who I’m stuck with?

Trinsky:

Favorite things and peeps: hockey, surfing, and my kid brother.

Least favorite person in the entire history of the universe: Jake Milligan.

Look, I might be in the minority, but if you ask me, Jake is a nitpicking diva who wants everything his way. I hope my NHL team crushes his, and this summer, I want my campers to out-prank his. Childish? Nah, it’s all in good fun.

Until it starts to feel…complicated. I shouldn’t care if he’s happy, should I? I don’t want to be Jake’s friend. I don’t want to have feelings for him at all.

The only thing that matters is hockey. It's all about the puck. Not love.

Or is it?

Puck Love is an MM bisexual, small-town romance featuring hockey’s hottest rivals, a hiking trip gone wrong, and a shot at forever....

I was so worried that book 5 was the last but hoped we'd get a HEA for hometown boy, Jake. And here it is.
Kind of enemies to lovers but not really, this sees Jake and Trinsky confront their animosity on the ice when they are paired up as coaches in Vinnie's summer program.

It's slow burn romance with plenty of time spent getting to know the real person behind the on ice persona. It's also full of banter, fun, the roster of former hockey players that make up this small town, community and heart.
That's what this series has had in spades, community and heart and I'm going to miss that.

The narrator does an excellent job, as he has with the entire series. I'm going to miss this series but I'll definitely be revisiting them.

Jake and Trinsky
Pair of rivalry, enemies to lovers hockey players. And I fell in love with them both! I found them both funny and sweet. And enjoyed the wild ride their relationship developing took.

Nick J. Russo did a great job narrating, I enjoyed their voice immensely. And they really bought the characters to life. And made the story even more enjoyable and it shall definitely be one to relisten too.

Puck Love, good audiobook. I listened to it as a standalone and enjoyed it even though I hadn't read any of the others in the series

I really needed this after the last few books I've finished. I hadn't actually read any if the rest on the series but I didn't feel like there was any thing I was missing/didn't understand.
This was possibly the sweetest enemies to lovers I've ever consumed. Nick J. Russo is one of my favs too, so this really hit the spot for me!

This was ridiculously sweet

A fun enemies-to-lovers story, with a dash of angst, humour, old friends, found family and awakenings (of the bi- kind).
I loved that once Jake and Mason realised that their impressions of each other were skewed, they spent most of the time getting to know each other and building a new relationship! 😘🥵

Nick J Russo is a comfy narrat to listen to. He's been the narrator for the whole series, so brings the same energy he's had for the series.
Recommend!!

A fitting end to the series!

This sixth book in the Elmwood series is a lovely addition to the ongoing sagas in this universe. Lane Hayes spins a great romantic tale and Nick Russo’s narration brings it to life. If you love Elmwood, check out Starting from…

I really enjoyed this story, with two rival hockey players who are thrown together on a camping trip for junior hockey fans/wannabes. Of course, there is only one tent. The duo continue to be thrown together for interviews, charity events, etc., and as they learn more about each other and their pasts and lives, their preconceived notions and assumptions about each other start to crumble. They become friends, then lovers...but just for the summer. The world revels in their rivalry, so no one can ever know about the friendship and love that's developed. This is an engaging bi-awakening story with dual bi-awakenings, as the two men try to determine if their feelings can coexist with their hockey careers. I liked that there was no easy answer. It wasn't too hard, but it did take time and patience.

The narration by Nick Russo really brought the characters to life and made the transition from rivals to lovers credible and believable.

I received a free copy of the audiobook and this is my honest, voluntary review.

A wonderfully warm, feel good ending to this series. Jake and Mason are tapped for summer camp duty and are convinced they know all about each other and want nothing except to "win" against each other in everything from hockey to camp pranks. Being around each other in camp, however, in what is essentially a forced proximity situation forces them to see the actual person not the one they've created in their head and it turns out they that other person is one they can open up to and we get to watch them move through friendship to so much more. Wonderful series and this is an absolutely wonderful couple. Nick J. Russo does a fantastic job with Jake, Mason and all the characters here.

This is an audiobook review.

Jake and Trinsky can't stand each other.
Honestly, it's just a case of UST and misconceptions about each other.
I loved the whole camping trip fiasco, I was constantly laughing out loud.
Loved the families as well, especially sweet Eddie.
Nick J. Russo did an amazing job narrating and bringing these characters to life.

I always get a kick out of Lane Hayes' novels, and Puck Love is a prime example of what I enjoy the most about their writing. Fun, engaging characters with just enough tension to make the enemies to lovers to friends theme work for me. A cast of creative characters (teammates, family members) which add richness to the story. And steamy, well written romance scenes which will make everyone happy.

I read Puck Love as a standalone with no trouble at all.

The audio version of Puck Love is nicely performed by Nick J. Russo. Russo does a really great job with the supporting cast and coming up with unique voices for them.
