so the performance was great as always but I'm starting to see a big problem: pacing. It is, for lack of a better word, awful in this volume. The story spends five chapters on one fight with a golem that is described in excruciating detail after about 10 chapters of fighting in a dungeon in repeated fights that are also described in equal detail. The story basically stops dead for hours. I do hope this improves in future volumes where we can get more story in our story and less blow by blow dullness for hours on end.

Though I have a huge issue with this series.... I believe 2/3 to 3/4 is combat. which is fine if your all about that. But as Jake is a solo player, and there are only so many unique situations that he can end up in. but the story does has great promise. social interactions are done really well. Some of the arcs the story is promising should be great. but serious killing an enemy with power shot or infused power shot or arcane power shot is the same thing. So be prepared to face a real grind. it just makes me feel that this story has so much wasted potential. FYI cultivation is a Taoist concept. not a defiance of the fall original idea...

As a long time gamer and D&D nerd I can’t believe how long it’s taken me to get into LitRPG. I find that the Primal Hunter series scratches an itch for me when I’m not playing my own games.

Book 4 was one of my favourites as the challenges grow tougher and Jake has to adjust his approach. The series has been a time sink for me, I’ve managed all 4 audio books in less than 10 days!

Fantastic narration and I can’t wait to see where these characters go next

Disclaimer I subscribe to the authors patreon and I gotta admit the upcoming arcs are awesome. Where the story is up to now well… no spoilers but it’s pretty good! Can’t wait to hear what voice travis does for Sandy.
