Red, White and Royal Blue meets Formula 1!

Kian Walker has always been the golden boy of motorsport. The four-time Championship winner has racing in his DNA – his father was a legend on the track, just don’t let him catch you comparing the two. As reckless and unreliable at home as he was behind the wheel, there’s nothing Kian wants less than to be just like his dad.

Enter Harper James. This year’s rookie called up to compete with the big boys – and Kian’s new teammate. Cocky, hot-headed and with a reputation for breaking as many hearts as he does new track records, Harper’s the opposite of Kian in every way. But when the season starts, there’s no getting away from him.

This might be one of the most dangerous sports in the world, so why then does Kian’s heart feel safer flying around the track at 220mph than when he's anywhere near his teammate?

A lovely story with complex yet relatable characters. Some parts where the voice actors were very quiet so had to rewind as missed certain lines

Great story with lovable characters

I did really enjoy this book despite almost DNF’ing it in the first couple chapters.
However, I thought I’d keep going to give it a go because I’d heard a lot of good things about it.

The problem for me was Harpers behaviour during those first few interviews and I do understand where he was coming from once I learned why he is the way he is later on in the story, after the first few chapters we got to really see inside his head and why he was going into self destruct mode.
But That first interview where he was being a total dick toward Kian was uncalled for because even once the interview was over, he seemed to genuinely think that Kian was to blame and he hadn’t done anything wrong.

Then when Kian was really trying and Harper was messing things up, the manager gave them both the warning when it was very clearly Harper in the wrong.

Once got past that and the story really started with their backgrounds and the racing, I really enjoyed it!

Loved the fact that it was a slow burn but we got lots of flirty banter and sexual innuendos in there too. Loved the scene where Harper first called Kian for help because he had no one else 🥹 ofc that was going to happen and hit me in the feels lol

The spicy 🌶️ scenes were really hot, could’ve been longer imo 😏 but what we did get were great.

Now the narrators, I did struggle with the speech with Harpers Narrator and when he was speaking under his breath or reading out his internal thoughts/ dialogue, I could not hear anything he was saying 🙈 I had my headphones volume turned up to full and no noise in the room whatsoever and I still couldn’t hear him.
I had to keep going back 4/5 times to really try and listen. Other than that, they both did well

Really enjoyed this book

The plot was fantastic, the spicy was great and I instantly loved both of them. So well written definitely one for the favourites.

Harper’s voice was a little quiet in places but not enough to bother.

Really so good!!

"My obsession with pleasing him has me in a chokehold. Who knew being a good boy would feel like this?" 🏎️

I just finished reading Rebecca J Caffery's Pole Position, and what a delightful experience it was! As someone relatively new to the Formula 1 romance trope, I found this to be an incredibly sweet and easy read that truly hit the mark. It was the perfect companion for a cosy Sunday afternoon.

The dynamic between Kian and Harper was an absolute joy to follow. Their journey from rivals on the track to lovers, and ultimately to a found family, was handled with such warmth and charm. It’s clear that Kian, the stoic and dedicated veteran racing driver, and Harper, the fiercely independent and talented rookie racing driver, are a match made in heaven. Their initial friction, born from their competitive spirits and contrasting personalities, made their eventual bond all the more satisfying.

One aspect that really stood out to me is the immersive world of Formula 1 that Rebecca J Caffery creates. While I'm not a die-hard F1 fan, I never felt lost or overwhelmed by the technical jargon. Instead, the author weaves in just enough detail to make the setting feel authentic and exciting without detracting from the central romance. It was fascinating to get a glimpse behind the scenes of the racing world, with all its high stakes, intense rivalries, and the camaraderie among the teams. The vivid descriptions of the tracks and the atmosphere of race day truly brought the story to life. The tension of the races themselves added an extra layer of excitement to Kian and Harper's personal journey.

In conclusion, Pole Position by Rebecca J Caffery is a wonderfully feel-good read. I highly recommend picking this one up. It certainly left a smile on my face!

I loved this story! I’m not all that interested in race car driving if I’m being honest and after buying the book I did think I’d be bored, however this story kept me interested the whole time and I enjoyed every minute of it. I loved both characters and teared up a few times when Harper spoke of his loneliness, very real.. I hope we get Johannes’s story one day I think it’ll be interesting.
Narration was easy to listen to, harpers voice was sometimes a little too quiet but nothing too bad. But I loved Kian’s voice, very nice to listen to.
I would 100% recommend this book, the first I haven’t dnf’d in a while.

Very intriguing!!
