About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

Imagine you've finally escaped the worst relationship of your life, running away with only a suitcase and a black eye.

Imagine your new next-door neighbours are the friends you so desperately needed - fun, kind, empathetic, very much in love.

Imagine they're in trouble. That someone is telling lies about them, threatening their livelihoods - and even their lives.

Imagine your ex is coming for you.

If your new best friends needed you to tell one small lie, and all of these problems would disappear, you'd do it, wouldn't you?

It's only one small lie, until someone turns up dead.

Wow this book keeps you on your toes as to 'whodunnit'! Better for women than for males (as mostly about females). Although I don't usually select American narrators, this one (Jesse) really plays the part of a neurotic scared woman very well. A few scenes were a bit far fetched, but overall a good choice for those who want to be gripped from start to finish.

Rollercoaster ride!

I so wanted to enjoy this book but it didn’t hit the mark for me. I persevered hoping I would start to engage with the main character Lucy but she irritated me and the narrator didn’t let up once from the overly agitated and irritating fraught energy associated with her. It was exhausting listening to her! The plot was certainly active with sudden twists and turns happening all throughout and some people may well enjoy it for that alone. I found it all slightly ridiculous, frustrating and irritating. The best thing in the entire story is Dusty - Lucy’s dog and the bond they have. I cared more about Dusty than anyone else!

Too frantic

The story was okay but ruined by the narrator. Overly dramatic in every sense

Disappointing
