About this listen

Xander

There’s something seriously wrong with me.

For once, I’m not talking about the health anxiety that randomly pops up and wreaks havoc on my life. I'm talking about, well, everything else.

All my roommates have found someone to love them, and it hurts to see the guys who used to have me at the center of their worlds pair off and grow up, especially when it’s a reminder of how alone I've always been. I’ve always had an issue with relationships. With forming a connection with people outside of Seven, but this is more.

Because I want to find my someone.

Except the one person my brain has latched onto is the one person I can never have. The one person who’s there to help me when my panic attacks get too much.

Nurse Derek.

Derek

I should never have offered to treat Xander Moore.

And now here I am years later, my life on hold, while I wait day in and day out for the call that Xander needs me. It always comes, and I always answer, but I’m starting to dread those visits.

Lately, I’m looking at Xander in a way a medical professional should never look at their patient.

When Xander starts volunteering at the same nursing home that I do, I get to see a new side of him. The artistic, charismatic side that draws the residents in. I get glimpses of a man who’s so much more than his anxiety, and it does nothing to help my feelings for him.

Lines begin to blur and I have no choice but to stop treating him. That at least allows us to be friends. The only problem is, being friends isn’t enough for either of us.

It’s wrong, unethical, and unprofessional, but my heart won’t listen. It’s decided on Xander, and it doesn’t want to wait. Neither does Xander.

But if I want to keep my job, I have to resist.

I just wish he didn’t make that so difficult.

I’ve been waiting for Xander’s book for ages, but I couldn’t wait to read it. I think learning about the other Bertha boys and their relationships has given me the clarity to understand and sympathise with Xander and his life.

In walks Derek. From the moment we met him, so many books ago, I’ve always hoped that Derek would be the one for Xander. Saxon brought these two together perfectly.

Xander just needs to be loved, and he has so many emotions that he can’t always show them in the right way. Derek has so much love to give, and together they are perfect for each other. The way their love developed and the healthy boundaries Derek put in place were amazing. Seeing how he wanted to be everything for Xander but also still have his own life and protect himself was the best way to see these two come together.

The ending was simply amazing. When Aggie got them all together at the end, I cried, because of course we should.

May all these boys live their happily ever after.

Thanks to Teddy Hamilton for bringing this story to a close! Simply amazing as always!

Finally!! The ending we all needed

I love this series and couldn’t wait for the final instalment. This was a great way to end the series. I loved that Seven and Xander remained together and even though the guys all found their happy every afters and had their own places they still remain a family and support one another no matter what. Xander is adorable and I’m so happy he got the confidence and self love to work on himself and give self a proper chance at life. As someone who suffered from extreme anxiety and panic attacks and is a serial overthinking it’s not always easy and takes great strength to help yourself and I was so happy he finally didn’t that and made massive improvement and had the great support system he did. I also loved Derke for loving and supporting Xander the way he did and helping him through it all. It makes life a lot easier it’s hard when the people around you don’t know who to help you or understand you, but Xander has the best support he could ever wish for.

This was a great way to the end the series. Loved it.

I've been waiting this pairs story and it didn't disappoint. It's not as light and fluffy as other books in the series for obvious reasons but I thought the mental health issues and possible power imbalance were handled very well. As always, Teddy's narration was great :-)

Great series ending
