What did you like best about My Sister's Bones? What did you like least?
The story held some interest for me in that I kept listening but the inserts of the doctor interviewing Kate held on S136 which his for a period of up to 72 hours and involves more than just one doctor who seems to be on some kind of marathon I am going to assess you not stop for 72 hours is so ridiculously implausible that I have felt driven to add my thoughts. I know this is fiction but there needs to be some grounding in reality........Please try better next time Nuala
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
....What aspect of Imogen Church and Sally Scott ’s performance might you have changed?
I normally quite like Imogen Churches performances though they are quite lugubrious...there is an appeal in that. However her portrayal of the hectoring psych who is on a 72 hour assessment mission really is appalling. Maybe thats because I am so irritated by this aspect of the book.
Could you see My Sister's Bones being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?
NoS136!!! Please do your research ....

The narrators were very good and added character to the voices of the two female protagonists. My only quibble (and not enough for this to lose a star) is that the reading was quite slow and this was remedied by me changing the setting to 1.25. I recommend this highly and will look out for more books by this author.
A very good and gripping story

But then I decided to to play with the speed of the book reading (wanting to power through it faster) and found that playing it x1.5 cut out most of the melodrama and you got to enjoy the story.
Is better in x1.5 speed

The genre has become predictable. There are three elements to look out for in these books:
1. Neurotic women are usually right
2. Nice men are psychopaths
3. The women won't be believed by authorities until the very end
And so goes this tale of two sisters, one who became a war correspondent suffering from post-traumatic stress, and the other an alcoholic - both abused as children. One's high functioning, the other is a deadbeat mother. In between are the stories of mysterious children appearing here, there and everywhere. And the women not being believed.
The writer attempts to make a difference by bringing in stories of the horrors of the Middle East, which was a nice change - but it seemed more like a tool to follow exactly the pattern. It seemed promising but it falls short.
Predictable, what an anti-climax!
