About this listen
Get ready to laugh out loud in the office from New York Times bestselling author Melanie Moreland
My new boss—Alexander Bane
Aptly named since he’s the bane of my existence.
Please isn’t in his vocabulary.
He grunts, growls, and demands.
If only he didn’t look so sexy when doing so.
If only his mouth weren’t so addictive when kissing mine.
He’s quickly becoming my favorite boss.
Which is wrong.
My new assistant is an unwelcomed distraction.
Snarky, witty, always smiling.
Constantly putting me in my place.
Making me second-guess my decisions.
I dislike it. Intensely.
Unless I’m kissing her.
Then Magnolia Myers becomes my favorite person.
Which I hate.
Two people working together, disliking each other.
Until they don’t.
Then the fun begins
HR has never been so entertained.
Author's note: For those on the lookout for a hero who's so charming when he's bossy that it makes you want to follow his orders just to keep him talking.

The funniest of romcoms!
I absolutely adore the romcom side of Melanie Moreland's writing and My Favourit Boss is right up there at the top of my list of 'will listen to again!
The story of Bane and Myers will have you laughing out loud, usually at the most inopportune of times, especially if listening through headphones at work!
Throughout this office romcom, you will question, and rightly so, what else can happen to these two in this boss/employee romance...well you ain't seen nothing yet! Hold on to the nearest hard surface and ensure your tena lady underwear is securely in place, you're going to need it!
A wonderfully funny and swoon worthy story brought to amazing auditory technicolour by the amazing narrators John Lane and Maxine Mitchell.

Alex and Maggie!
Alex architectural landscaping designs are not only appreciated by his clients but the industry at large however that does not equate to respect when it comes to his family. When he finds himself needing a new assistant he is tasked with the interviews and even though he had his reservations she is exactly who he needs not only when it comes to work but, in his life, as well.
Maggie is so much fun and her actions as well as her comments bring a smile to surly boss’s face as much as he tries to deny it. It doesn’t take long for her to fall for him and become his biggest supporter as she shows him what love really means.
Alex and Maggie were so adorable from the compromising situations that HR found them in, to the emotional moments they both had when it came to their families and how they become each other’s everything before they realized what happened. The narrators were a perfect match as they brought out the sassy side of Maggie as well as the swoony side of Alex.

Takes the story to the next level
What’s better than a brand new Melanie Moreland novel to get stuck into? Well, the audiobook of that story! And My Favorite Boss lives up to every expectation I had of it and then some. Once again we’re treated to the voices of John Lane and Maxine Mitchell. These two have become so synonymous with Melanie Moreland novels that I listened to another book by another author where Maxine Mitchell narrated - and I felt she had cheated on poor John Lane!
Alexander Bane - or Bane as he’s known - needs a new assistant. He wants someone to keep up with his exacting standards. Someone calm, quiet and when he says jump, they’ll ask how high. Basically the exact opposite of Magnolia Myers. Cute, feisty, sassy and unexpectedly sexy in her buttoned up, Victoriana outfits. Let the fun begin.
I love a story in any setting where one of our pair comes in and makes the other realise, just by being kind and caring, exactly what they’ve been missing in their lives. And that’s what we get here. Magnolia aka Maggie aka Myers might sometimes be a hot mess but she brings love, light and happiness into Bane’s world. As well as sandwiches and foamy coffee. She’s a really likeable character and it was so easy to root for her. She’s got her troubles but she’s a hard worker and does what she needs to do. But it’s just her kindness that touched my heart - and how she was with Bane. Maxine Mitchell is our Magnolia and she’s just wonderful. Her voice is both sweet and feisty and she brought Maggie to life.
Bane himself was exactly the right level of grumpy. Enough to make him realistically a nightmare to work for - but also actually just a squishy marshmallow under the right circumstances. I love how awed he was by Myers and how much fun and light she brought into his life - even if he massively resisted at first. He was another easy character to fall in love with and root for. He’s voiced to perfection by John Lane who delivers Bane’s gruff persona and his sweet moments to a t!
If you’re a fan of Ms Moreland - you’re also going to know that there’s going to be plenty of heat between our couple. There’s the tension leading up to them finally giving in to their desires and then it’s still sizzling as our pair try to keep things under wraps in the office. To varying degrees of success.
This is a Melanie Moreland book so you know it’s going to be immaculately written and you’ll be hooked from the very first word. But it’s also hugely funny. Having read the ebook before listening to the audiobook, I felt the audiobook really made me appreciate the story, the characters and their romance. This is a great story on your first read / listen but it also gets better and better with each time.
This book entertained me from beginning to end and I find myself wishing I could still be in the office with Myers and Bane or in the house with Alex, Maggie and of course, little Hedgey. A perfect story with perfect narration. Definitely 5 stars and adds another reason as to why Melanie Moreland is one of my favourite authors of all time.

Ticks all the boxes
I found this book so funny, i was snort laughing only a couple of chapters in!
The narrators were a great choice for this story and so easy to listen to. I love a book with a strong female lead and I was not disappointed. It was really entertaining and I will definitely be going back for another listen.

Superb
This pair are the Bane of the HR departments day. Snarky assistant, brusk boss, some unusual business related situations. What more could you look for in a MM story. Well a cat obviously... 🐈
Bane can't hold on to an assistant, not since Sally retired. 6 in 2 months could be a record? Someone needs to call the Guinness book folks!
Magnolia has just been laid off and has had the day from hell, so she's in no mood for a grump.
This is one of the best Melanie Moreland grumpy/ sunshine stories I've read. Humour and emotion in prefect balance, with a typically fab epilogue and kitty related outtake that you wouldn't believe at the start of this tale.
Magnolia's first meeting with Bane's mother, it's absolutely priceless, as is Bane's first meeting with Magnolia's dad but for mightily different reasons. None of which I'm going to spoil. Cause that first read experience is something you can't get back.
The audiobook. Listening to this pair is so much fun.
