About this listen
Bill Bailey has always had dogs, including a Patterdale terrier called Rocky who would travel with him in the van to his first shows and occasionally join him on stage. Fast forward a few decades and Bill has shared his home with a variety of birds, dogs, frogs, chameleons and an armadillo called Tommy. 'We even had a giant chicken, a huge Malay cockerel called Kid Creole. After a few stand-offs he took against me. He had to go in the end, I was being stalked in my own back garden.'
That chicken apart, animals have always been at the heart of an extraordinary life as one of the nation's favourite comedians, actors, musicians and (thanks to Strictly) dancers: from terriers to the orangutans of Sumatra and the parrots that share his breakfast every morning in west London.
Full of the leftfield humour, wit and wisdom that has made Bill Bailey such a beloved performer around the world, My Animals and Other Animals is the story of Bill's life; but more than that, it's the story of how all of our lives are enriched by the animals who accompany us on that journey.©2024 Bill Bailey (P)2024 Quercus Editions Limited

Magical
Bill nurtures that deep (and in some cases hidden even from ourselves) connection that underpins our very existence - we ARE nature, nature is AWESOME - in the traditional and proper sense of the word and Bill reminds us of this with an appropriate and heartwarming level of humour whilst doing his subject due justice and respect to re-awaken our connection to the wider world and all life itself. Thanks Bill, already listened three times and only purchased last week! x

How similar Rocky was to one of my dogs, Maisy. She loves a good ball and someone to throw it.
Really enjoyed this book. Made even better with Bills narration. Could relation to some of his stories.

A Lighthearted Book of Short Stories
I didn’t know what to expect from this, but I had hoped for something of an autobiographical look at Bill’s experiences throughout life. This book delivers a little of that, but it’s quite literally mainly about animals and experiences with animals. Shocking, given the title.
It’s an enjoyable listen throughout, and Bill is well read. Expect funny short stories about different animals… And visit the Isle of Mull.

Uplifting
I already liked Bill Bailey and this book showed what an amazing human being he is. The love and respect he has for animals and the environment is admirable. I enjoyed the book enormously and will buy copies for Christmas presents to uplift others.

A wonderful collection of animal stories
I'd been looking forward to the books release and it didn't disappoint at at. In fact it also had a healing quality for me, as I had suddenly lost my dog just before I started reading. The stories of Bill's pets were especially heartwarming and helped to remind me of all the adventures with my own pup. I heartily recommend this for any animal lover. Thanks Bill

Brilliant
Could listen to Bill Bailey all day long! Such a funny and vivid collection of tales (or should I say tails!). It did make me want to see pictures of all these pets and encounters! I've already listened to it a couple of times and can tell it will be a "feel good" favourite!
