About this listen

Meet DI Hilary Greene, a policewoman fighting to save her career. Not only has she lost her husband, but his actions have put her under investigation for corruption.

Then a bashed and broken body is found floating in the Oxford Canal. It looks like the victim fell off a boat, but Hillary is not so sure. Her investigation exposes a dark background to the death. Can Hillary clear her name and get to the bottom of a fiendish conspiracy on the water?

Not much to say about it. Same same. Personally won’t bother with following books in the series.
Narrator had good diction and a pleasant voice so that was a plus

Stereotype cookie cutter

Humour, crime and life. I can not wait to listen to the books of this author.

That the author could tell a wholesome story without blasphemy or crude language! what a great listen!

Sorry the story telling is boring. I just never cared too much about Hilary or the others. There was nothing about the characters that was captivating. The remarks huge cliches. Narrator sometimes took such noisy breaths as if she was drowning. I found it very distracting. It was read too fast and in a monotonous voice. Not enjoyable for me.

Boring, narrator seems to be drowning in it

A few twists in the story - but not brilliantly narrated. Good start to the series.

Good listen

The narrator read this in such a garble I had to slow down the narration. Much better when I had done this. I just wish she’d take a few more breaths!
Oh - it’s solder NOT sodder!!

Had to slow down the reading

I have got used to the narrator although a few words still grate eg Darlia instead of Dahlia please it should should be Daylia!!!
That is a a small thing but surprising how many times it crops up in the series!
Overall well read and a book that keeps you wanting more and congratulations on the language ! Recommended for easy, but interesting, reading/listening

Thoroughly enjoyable.

This is the first audiobook by this author, and it won’t be the last.
Very enjoyable with authentic believable characters.
I enjoyed it!

Murder on the Oxford Canals.

Rather mundane story. Didn’t feel engaged with any of the characters. The narrator mispronounced several words ( eg soddering iron ) which further distracted.

So so story. Oddly pronounced words.
