This is an easy listen, a good story well performed. The performer uses subtle accent and tone changes to indicate the different characters – I find her very easy to listen to.
Like manyBooks in this genre, the end is disappointing with some ‘made for tv’ moments Which don’t really work. Still, for a freebie, it’s a pretty good lesson

This is a cosy, easy-to-follow murder mystery. Think Midsomer Murders and Rosemary & Thyme, and add a smattering of the Vicar of Dibley.
The narration is very good, with the main voice being 1950s-style “posh” English, and various other accents and tones used to distinguish the different characters.
The two main characters are engaging, though there’s a lot of unnecessary “padding”, especially involving the dog.
The ending seemed a bit trite but I enjoyed the story enough to want to hear Adam and Imogen’s next case.

A Village Murder is an interesting English whodunnit, carrying the usual range of characters that this type of writing fosters. The characters are reasonably well rounded, with the male and female leads carrying the story along at just the right pace. The standard reveal at the end is very reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s Poirot and Marple stories. On the whole, pretty well executed and very well narrated.

It took until chapter 8 to really grab my attention, but then the story panned out. Some good characters and surroundings, if a bit Agatha Christie. I found the narration a bit on the posh side, and Londoners do not pronounce 'ain't that way!
