About this listen
Everyone knows the dead woman under the lighthouse, but no one seems to know why she died. What brought the folk-rock star back to Exham on Sea after so many years? Who wanted her dead? Does the key to her murder lie in the town, or far away across the Atlantic?
Libby Forest arrives in Exham to build a new life making cakes and chocolates, and discovers a talent for solving mysteries, helped by Bear, an enormous Carpathian sheepdog, and a cast of local characters. The green fields, rolling hills, and sandy beaches of England's West Country provide a perfect setting for crime, intrigue, and mystery.

I’ve listened to every story in this series, but not in order, which is probably a good thing because had I started with this book, which is the first in the series, I doubt I would have bothered listening to the rest.
As other people have said, the narrator has a monotonous voice, she sounds bored & disinterested with what she is reading. Unfortunately for anybody new to this series, she narrates the next 4 books until book 6 onwards is read by a much easier on the ear narrator.

Good story poor narration
this would have been much better without the narrators monotonous voice. no depth or alitteration throughout in fact she sounded bored and emphasis was all wrong. shame because good plot and interesting characters. hope she doesn't do anymore!!

The narrater killed the story
Been enjoying listening to Francis Evesham stories and slowly working my way through them, but 10 minutes into this and am not going to be able to continue listening. The flat emotionless voice this has been read in has made it impossible to listen to anymore. I figured that maybe if I listened for a bit it might improve as they got into reading it but it hasn’t. Such a shame as I’ve really enjoyed listening to the other books. Wish I had read the other reviews before purchasing. Lesson learned.

Delightful
I thoroughly enjoyed this short book. The characters are well created and the storyline keeps me interested. I like to listen to it in the evening to relax… the problem i have when setting the timer is that I keep extending it so i have to rethink my schedule ;-) I’m looking forward to the next one.

the narration, not great.
I liked the characters, eventually, they need time to grow on you. main problem is the narrator who let's it down, monotone does not do any audio book justice. plus how idiotic can a policeman be, to get promotion? I mean taking umbrage at someone breaking glass to gain entry in the hope of saving a life. blaming someone for causing the fall when it would be clear the accident must have happened earlier. obviously low in in that particular force.
