perfect for helping with pain
I use mindful meditation anyway but wanted something specific to help when I am in pain. This audio is just right and shows a good understanding of coping with chronic pain. This stuff is better then painkillers and works when nothing else will.

Excellent
Thus is an excellent audio book. Extremely helpful and at a good pace.
I have been practicing mindfulness for pain for nearly eight weeks and it has really helped. The pain does not always go away but it is becoming less of an enemy.
I have found quieter moments also in other parts of my life through being able to recognise an emotion and what is attached to it.
I highly recommend this.

Extremely useful guide to chronic pain
I think this book is wonderful and could do with another updated and expanded version, as the more guidance you can get with chronic pain the better.
I especially like the meditations at the end of the book and return to them again and again :)

Best mindfulness I've reviewed to date
Points out a few keys things.
It is working, but does need time, I listen to it a lot and iT is helping me.
They point out how this was developed ages ago, and they would tell those who were one or course they didn't have to like it, it may appear boring but they had to do it.
It works as I do fall asleep to it (oops) but in between I am learning to change my mindset, and that is very powerful indeed,
It's now my go to to calm down, regain control of anxiety and painful situations
I'm a bendy zebra with chronic fibro pain issues and complex history. This is helping, though on my case I found this whilst seeing talking therapies.mbut this we always be there :)

Excellent, but no chapters
Another excellent book by Jon Kabat-Zinn on mindfulness with more of a focus on dealing with pain. Many of the points are covered in some of his other books, but there is much more detail on managing pain here. Big let down again from Audible not dividing this into chapters, never mind giving them a name. How difficult is this? Very frustrating

Compassionate and comforting
I chose this at just the right time as my M.E. was really bad. This gave me techniques to use and it gave me hope. God bless you Jon. Needless to say, highly recommended.

Excellent introduction to mindfulness meditation
What made the experience of listening to Meditation for Pain Relief the most enjoyable?
If you are interested in mindfulness meditation techniques and unable, for whatever reason, to attend the actual course, Kabat-Zinn's book is an excellent introduction. Narrated by the author and containing guided meditations, the Audiobook affords the listener the opportunity of an 'aural transmission' from a meditator of considerable experience.Kabat-Zinn's gently modulated tones create an ideal atmosphere for meditating, as the Author encourages the listener to tune into or out of the narration as necessary. Kabat-Zinn's experience as a meditator and meditation teacher is evident in the light touch he brings to bear on all the frequently encountered challenges to the development of a regular meditation practice.
Have you listened to any of Jon Kabat-Zinn’s other performances? How does this one compare?
I've also listened to "Full Catastrophe Living" and "Wherever you go, there you are" and feel that this particular performance, being more gently modulated in pitch, pace and intensity, is ideally suited to the purpose at hand.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I have been using this audiobook twice a day for the last three months and have found Kabat-Zinn to be a faithful, non-judgmental and supportive meditation guide: my meditation practice has flourished and I appear to be reaping the rewards in terms of mental and emotional wellbeing. Highly recommended.
