About this listen

From the acclaimed author of Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo comes a breathtaking novel about a young woman whose fate hinges on the choice she makes after bumping into an old flame; in alternating chapters, we see two possible scenarios unfold—with stunningly different results

At the age of twenty-nine, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has lived in six different cities and held countless jobs since graduating college. On the heels of leaving another city, Hannah moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and takes up residence with her best friend Gabby. Shortly after, Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan.

Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. Hannah hesitates. What happens if she leaves with Gabby? What happens if she leaves with Ethan?

In concurrent story lines, Hannah lives out the effects of each decision. Quickly, these parallel universes develop into radically different stories with large-scale consequences for Hannah, as well as the people around her. As the two alternate realities run their course, Maybe in Another Life raises questions about fate and true love: Is anything meant to be? Is there such a thing as a soul mate? Hannah believes there is. And, in both worlds, she’s found him.

No major plot twists, quite a bland read! The amount they go on about cinnamon rolls - annoying!!!

Bit boring

An easy listen, which I did enjoy, it’s obviously a sliding doors scenario. The only problem I had throughout was that I couldn’t believe the situation that created the sliding doors. I just kept thinking to myself “who does that?!”

Entertaining

Great story, easy to listen to. I really enjoyed it, ending was fairly predictable but even so I'd recommend it.

Loved it

Really well written enjoyable book. He said, she said, dialogue could have done with some more variation, otherwise, great.

Great book

Not quite as spectacular as Daisy Jones or Carrie Sotto but a worthy light read! X

A good read.

Another fabulous book. I've often wondered how life would have been different if the many little things in my life had turned out differently. This story does just that, with its timelines. And yet we are still basically the same person inspite of the different choices.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was brilliant! I would just have preferred if the chapter breaks were at the changing timelines and not as often as they were.

Another fabulous book for TJR

This is the first book I have read by this author but I really loved it. I wondered if the split timelines might be confusing but they weren't. it was a bit repetitive nearing the end but didn't spoil it for me.

I enjoyed the story, it was a blatent sliding doors scenario. I liked that she felt fortunate in the end in both scenarios, it's a hopefull thought the cinnamon roll obsession was pushed a bit far though.... I mean we all like them but.......
An easy listen.

Nice easy listen...

I can’t put my finger on what I didn’t like exactly but I just didn’t like it. I didn’t feel the characters were well developed enough and therefore really didn’t care much what happened to them in one universe not to talk about the second.

Love TJR but not this book
