About this listen
How far would you go to find out who killed your mother? Adopted Miranda will do what it takes. As this story about murder, betrayal, and dark desires unfolds, things take an unsuspected turn. Things from the past find their way back to the surface, and dead might not mean dead, after all.

BUT instead of direct answers, she is given by David, the old man named as her father, a journal BUT written not by him BUT by an old time actor friend of his to read, and told that all would be revealed through the book. BUT, though read it she does, if reluctantly, pre-guessing the content BUT usually wrongly, the past is slowly revealed. It is a clever idea, BUT badly executed and very poorly editted, combined with a narration which manages to emphasize the worst of it's problems. And yes, one of those problems is the constant, emphatic use of the word 'but'. There are also re-recorded sentences left into the narration and even one complete chapter repeated: chapters 25 and 26 are identical.
A very large suspension of disbelief is needed to carry the reader through this, a convoluted seedy romance story with a slight mystery attached, unbelievable characters and a vague passing attempt at horror. It is accidentally quite amusing and I found myself enjoying it for the sheer foolishness of it all. I was fortunate in being freely gifted with a complimentary copy of Layers, by the rights holder, at my request, via Audiobook Boom. Thank you.
"A never ending nightmmare."
