About this listen

From New York Times best-selling author Kresley Cole comes this spellbinding story of a demon king trapped by an enchantress for her wanton purposes - and the scorching aftermath that follows when he turns the tables and claims her as his captive.

His obsession...

Sabine, Sorceress of Illusions: The evil beauty who surrenders her body, but not her heart.

Her downfall...

Rydstrom Woede: The ruthless warrior who vows to keep her at all costs.

They were never supposed to want each other this much....

With each smoldering encounter, their shared hunger only increases. If they can defeat the sinister enemy that stands between them, will Sabine make the ultimate sacrifice for her demon? Or will the proud king lay down his crown and arms to save his sorceress?

I absolutely loved this book. It just beat Sebastian and Caderines story to take my top spot of the series so far. Sabine was fantastic and I loved her. Not your typical heroine, she's full of it, self obsessed and egotistical, but I loved her. I even loved Rhydstrom. I wasn't sure whether to listen to this book as I loathed the previous one with Cadeon and Holly. Cadeon got on my nerves from the start!! This book is amazing. There's plenty of humour and I found myself laughing a lot during it. Robert Petkoff's narration was absolutely brilliant again. His women's voices have got so much better. I could honestly listen to him all day. Best one of the series so far. Can't way to listen to the rest now.

Best IAD so far

I can't help but express my love for Kresley Cole. She's my all-time favorite author. Just hours ago, I finished reading one of her books, and I absolutely loved it. The story is set in the kingdom of Rothkalina, which has fallen under the oppressive rule of Omort the Deathless, leading to a series of dark and unsettling events. The book introduces a complex portrayal of the heroine, who may initially seem morally ambiguous but is best described as pragmatic upon closer examination. Her challenging upbringing has instilled in her a fierce determination to prioritize the well-being of herself and her sister above all else. Having narrowly escaped death multiple times and confronted numerous adversaries seeking her demise, her instinct for self-preservation is a direct result of her difficult experiences. Raised in an environment where acts of kindness were misconstrued as vulnerabilities, she learned to constantly be on guard. Considering her tumultuous background and the adversities she has endured, it becomes evident that she does not fit the traditional mold of an outright malevolent character.

I found Sabine to be truly remarkable for her resilience and practical approach to life. She exuded a strong sense of sensuality and had a fondness for luxurious items, particularly gold. Her fashion sense was bold and dramatic, reflecting her confident personality. Notably, Sabine possessed remarkable determination and readiness to take decisive action whenever it was required, showing no hesitation in doing so.

Her soulmate, Rydstrom, is the deposed King of the Kingdom of Rothkalina, a scarred, horned demon who is trying to reclaim his kingdom with the help of his brother and Nix, who is my all-time favorite character. It was funny to see this reserved character lose his composure around Sabine, which added an interesting twist considering how composed he was in the other books.

Honestly, like the rest of the series, it was a fun roller coaster to follow, and I can't wait to read the next book.

Really didn’t like this book hated Sabine and Rydstrom just didn’t do it for me. I have loved all the other books so far, but struggled through this one so that I didn’t miss anything in the series. However I now realise that I could probably of skipped it and not missed anything vital to the series.

Worse one so far
