About this listen

Who’d want a guy like me?
Sure, I can make my MC brothers laugh, but I’m not good for much else.
Muscle? Sure.
Smarts? Not so much.
At least Brennan knows I’m one hot mother.... Well.... You know.
No one ever wants me for more than a roll in the sheets.
No one except Brennan.
Will he still want me when he realizes how messed up I am?

Joker is more than just fun and games.
He’s full of wisecracks, seems to live to rile everyone up, but the club enforcer has hidden depths.
Depths that only I see.
When the MC has a job for me, it’s the perfect opportunity to get close to Joker.
I want to keep his smart mouth busy.
With my lips.... And other things.
But the closer we get, the more of his pain I see.
I want to find a way to help him heal.
Will he let me in when he’s spent his whole life hiding?

Joker always has a wisecrack ready, but Brennan can see the secrets and pain he’s hiding. These two collide in Joker, Book 8 of the Hell’s Ankhor stand-alone m/m romance motorcycle club series.

Book 8 in the Hells Ankhor MC series. This is Jokers story and he's been hiding a big part of himself from everybody in the MC. Joker met Brennan when his construction crew rebuilt the clubs bakery and he was then hired to do more work for the MC. As Brennan started to spend more time around him he soon realised that there was alot more yo Joker than people realised and that Joker didn't realise his own self worth.
David Allen Vargo did another fantastic job bringing the guys and their story to life. Read/listen in series order for maximum understanding and enjoyment of the series. MM, MC, Romance with heat. I loved Jokers story as I have the others in the series.

Honestly I wasn’t sure I would be super into jokers story after his less than likable nature in previous books but the authors did a good job making his struggles clear without starting a pity party or making excuses for his bad behavior! I liked Brennan a lot! He was perfect for joker and really brought out a surprisingly vulnerable and sweet side of such an abrasive character. This was a solid addition to my favorite motorcycle club series! The narrations was on point the whole way through and I just can’t wait for more!

Surprisingly sweet!

I loved seeing Joker be vulnerable and tear down his walls to let someone in. I can't wait to see how he evolves with the "dirty" jokes in future books because he can't let that completely go.

Joker is the wisecracking, sarcastic club enforcer that keeps everyone at arms length and that everyone takes for granted, but the pain he’s hiding beneath the surface is no joke. Brennan sees it and wants to uncover what Joker is masking and help him work through it and heal. The result is a really steamy, romantic (in an MC gritty kind of way), emotionally charged story. As usual, it’s well-written and the characters have dimension and depth. In terms of narration, David Allen Vargo gives a solid performance. His voice fits with the tenor of the book and the series because it has a richness and depth to it that is the appropriate counterpoint to the characters and the story. He created two distinct voices and consistently delivered them. All in all, another great story in this series.

I've said it for every audio in this series, but I'll say it again: David Allen Vargo is a fantastic narrator, and I especially love the way he's been bringing my favorite MC club members to life. I had my suspicions that Joker wasn't the menace everyone made him out to be, but even I couldn't have predicted what a heart of gold this sweet man had lurking under his rough exterior. I've always been a sucker for the misunderstood ones, the guys who seem tough and abrasive but are really just hiding behind a shield. Joker was the perfect example of that kind of man, of a man who would rather be loud and annoying than invisible but who would never admit his insecurities to anyone. As I learned more about his past, about his family and his amazing volunteer work, my heart absolutely melted and all of Joker's actions made sense to me. Every crude joke, every outburst of anger wasn't coming from a bad person, just a person who didn't know how to be anything but the class clown and lone wolf. As this story progressed, it was such a joy to see Joker shed that outer skin with Brennan and finally start to open up to someone. Gaining Joker's trust was a fragile, delicate process, but Brennan was up for the challenge. I absolutely adored watching these men take pleasure from simply being around each other, and their sexual chemistry was off the charts. What elevated this story from a lovely romance to something truly special was seeing Joker gain acceptance from his MC family after so many months of tension. By the end of the book, Joker was almost unrecognizable from the closed-off, loud-mouthed man I met before. Seeing him happy, seeing him find peace and love with Brennan and feel worthy and supported by his Crew filled my heart to the brim with happiness.

Funny

I wasn't sure I'd like this book as much as I have the others because Joker has always kind of been that character that's annoying in the background, but I adored his story. It made me realize why he acted and reacted the way he did, why he was so triggered by seemingly nothing, and how Brennan was perfect for him. It was lovely.

Loved it

I felt so sorry for Joker as this book started. He doesn't think much of himself and he really is such a great guy. A sweet, marshmallow interior hidden behind the enforcer walls of jokes and smart remark so that no one can get close to him. Then, there is Brennan who is just the man to get past those walls and let us and Joker see how great he is. This is a romance where love really does change a life and stories like this are why I will never miss an entry in this series. David Allen Vargo did a wonderful job with these characters. You totally believe his Joker with no self-confidence at the beginning and you can actually hear him change as the story progresses.
